Is this the game that Aranda releases the exotic blitzes?

As soon as he was hired, most experts raved about Aranda's multiple looks and exotic blitz packages. One of the biggest talking points was how often the defense doesn't show any down lineman which further disguises where the pressure will come from.

For the most part, we've really only seen stunts and twists with the front 4. Does Aranda dig deeper into the playbook this weekend?

I believe so from what Coach O had to say. He said we need to stay in our lanes in order to contain the run. Also said if we stay in our lanes and don't bring pressure Kelly would pick us apart. I'm guessing we'll see a number of delayed blitzes from various spots.

Hopefully nothing too exotic unless it's truly needed. Would much rather look vanilla as long as long as LSU is winning and spring a surprise on Bama or Florida

I think it depends on how our DBs do early.

I am betting we will see one of the ILBs spying him in the middle, with various outside blitzes. Then they may flip that when they bring pressure up the middle and play a middle zone with man on the outside to contain him on the edges. I don't think we will see any all out blitzes, because Kelly can really hurt you with his legs if he can get through the wave of pressure.

OM doesn't hand off a lot and Kelly is really their only legit threat running the ball. If he can't find room to escape, he gets really frustrated and starts making mistakes. See the UF game last year and the Bama game this year. They just need to be smart and disciplined about pressuring him.

As for playing vanilla, if you guys recall, we tried that last year and he killed us. You can't just drop guys in coverage against Kelly. You have to pressure him and actually hit him to get him off his game.

Depends. If Arden and Neal are consistently pressuring him then I wouldn't get exotic for no reason. You don't fix something that's not broken.

One thing we haven't see a lot of so far this year is a lot of pre-snap shifting and disguising from the D. At least not as much as many of us expected based on Aranda's MO. I am guessing that will show up this week, as they try to make Kelly think about where pressure is going to come from.

God!!!!!! There is no secret playbook. Not on offense. Not on defense. Not on special teams. We might throw out some different looks on D Saturday based on the opponent, but your not going to say "oh wow. there is the defense they've been hiding."

We have already played two SEC games. The tape is out there. We haven't been "vanilla". The D may continue to progress and increased complexity as it is still Aranda's first year.

exotic - strikingly unusual or strange in effect or appearance. I like it. Bring it on Coach.

You know.... One thing that irked me last week about the first half was there seemed to be zero blitzes. It was like we were playing prevent (and not necessarily preventing). The 2nd half we came out blitzing here and there and it really wore their line down.

Other than Key, I'm not sure how many of our D line can get past a decent lineman without them having to worry about picking up blitzes. I'd like to see another Neal sack like he did last game. Their QB wasn't really the same after that one. Blitzing is a D-line's friend too.

I also believe that we shouldn't show anything out of the ordinary blitzes (if there really are special things) unless needed. I'd save every damn thing you can for Alabama, unless the game is in jeopardy.

And you can bet it's causing sleepless nights for other SEC D-coordinators. bout' time.

However, the more we show, the more they have to prepare for.
