Is the Alabama defense a paper tiger?

With all due respect to Nick Saban and his defensive pedigree, they have feasted on some atrocious offenses.
Bama has faced 3 of the worst 10 offenses in the NCAA in Vandy (111th), Mississippi (116th), and Kent State who is dead last at 120.
The best offense Bama has faced is Ark (22). The next best offense is Miss St at 75.
I am not saying the Bama D is not good, because they are. It is comical, however, to hear fans of Alabama trotting out total defense rankings. I am not an LSU fan and even I get a chuckle out of their false bravado. I'm pretty sure it's more whistling past the graveyard, and less that they actually buy into these skewed rankings.

According to the Ohio state and pac 10 and 12 boards, all of College football is down this year and that's why two mediocre team like LSU and Bama can rise up and look as good as we have.
PAc 10 says 2004 USC can destroy these two teams with ease.
Big 12 says Texas 2005 can destroy these two teams with ease.
Big 10 swears by Tressel and his BCS teams..
All of college football is down hence why everyone seems weak compare to Bama.

LSU is 78 which is not 'well below' 75. LSU is the highest scoring offense Bama will face all year, so LSU drives must often end in the opposing endzone.

fortunately for LSU they have faced way better QB's than bama's QB that cant throw worth a shite... 
LSU's DB's will have a field day if bama's QB throws the ball more than 10 yds past the LOS.

I've been saying the same thing. I've been predicting 31-17 since this past weekend.
After the Auburn beatdown and then watching Alabama against Tennessee, I saw all I needed to see.
Yes, Alabama's defense is a paper tiger or elephant or whatever. They are going to get exposed.

A Saban Defense (given adequate resources) is going to be very good. Alabama has far far more than "adequate" resources.

I know they are good and said as much. But the fact remains that their stats and national rankings are inflated due to facing some of the nation's worst offenses.
Bama fans are all over the internet spouting the party line: "Bama's D is ranked #1 in this that and the other and is clearly better than anyone else." I went and looked up the offenses they'd played and found it interesting. Not trying to convince anyone of anything, just stating facts.
