Jamal Adams is a helluva playmaker.

This zone scheme has neutralized our talent.

I would say Adams is that player for us, but we don't utilize him right. Adams is in on a lot of tackles! He's carrying our secondary. You're right about Tre tho, he's a stud.

I'm surprised at the lack of INT's

Me too. We've lacked INTs since 2011 season. Doesn't really make sense. Kevin Toliver is going to be a STUD for us the next two years. He'll go first round in two years. He's on the field almost every play but we don't see him much because they can't throw to the receiver. He is EXCELLENT in man-to-man.

Elite ones in the secondary? What games are you watching? Our DB's have proven to be mostly talk and busted coverages. They're overrated.

Yes. White and Adams are elite. Steele's schemes are shite.

That's a good point. I do miss Chavis' "let the secondary go to work" mentality. But I also like getting to the QB. Defense could be a Steele issue, but it's also a personnel issue on the line IMO

We most certainly have elite talent in our secondary. You obviously don't keep up with recruiting. He is saying they're not coached right and not prepared. A secondary unit has to be in sync with each other, knowing when to pull off of a route and when to pick one up. We are playing a lot of zone schemes this year and Steele has not prepared our DBs for it very well. Halfway through this season, Steele should've realized "ok, the zone stuff isn't working right now, it's causing too many busted plays, lets shift to man-to-man". But he didn't. We would have ZERO busted coverages if we played man-to-man right now because of ELITE TALENT. Obviously, when you play man-to-man, you open up the running game, so there's trade-offs. But Steele still hasn't figured out WHEN to play zone and when not to.

We are suspect around the edges, and our D sometimes over pursues and doesn't maintain gap integrity. That can create seams that go for big yardage. And, our DB's can take bad angles on many occasions.

I expected him to do better with the some of the D line talent he has.

what talent do you speak of?

Godcheaux and Lacoture are mediocre at best (Godcheaux would probably be a pretty good DE possibly). Neal has played pretty good but the rest aren't anything special (yet). Beckwith has been over rated and Jones is still small. There is some talent in the DB but not this all world group made out to be either.

Overall the starters are average and the backups are worse.
