I thought this was going to be about their old coach intentionally throwing at a guy on deck and almost killing him.

No in 1999 Gene Stephenson had his pitcher throw a pitch at a guy on deck because Stephenson thought he was timing pitches. The ball hit the guy in the head and did permanent damage.
The saddest part of the story is how little sense it makes. The guy was thrown at for timing pitches. That doesn't make any sense. Everyone times pitches when they're on deck.

Very weird story. I had to google the player to find out what happened and turns out it gets weirder. The player that got hit in the eye was charged in 2014 for molesting kids. Anthony Molina
