It's pretty crazy the ripple effect this game created.

Some fans will never appreciate Miles, no matter what he does or how many games he wins, until he gets another crystal.

Probably because when you had over 4 weeks to prepare for a team you already beat at their stadium and you arguably play the worst title game in the history of college football...people are going to be very upset. How many teams in modern college football did not cross the 50 yard line in a title game? It's inexcusable.

I met someone who wanted to fire Les a week after the 07 championship because we still lost two games.

Les was incredibly fortunate to have West Virginia go down, putting LSU in the title game after they won the SEC. I think losing to Houston Nutt's Arkansas team at home was unthinkable to most fans at the time when a title game appearance was on the line. I don't think most fans would have forgiven him for that loss if LSU had not slipped through the back door of the BCS title game. To credit him though, when the opportunity came, LSU won the title.

Although Miles and LSU got screwed by having to play Bama again in the title game, the heat Miles took was deserved for the way he coached that game. Quitting and punting the ball down 21-0 with just over three minutes left (with no tomorrow for seniors on the team) was as bad as it gets. There wasn't even a fight for pride to try and score or do anything.

It was perhaps the most humiliating game I've ever witnessed LSU play in, in any sport ever.

Of course it would be different. Les and LSU would have owned Saban and Alabama twice in one year, and it would have been glorious. But instead we decided to have the worst performance ever and worst coaching performance ever in the worst possible situation on the biggest stage. It was a disaster of epic proportions for LSU and something I am not sure this fanbase will recover from for a long time.

LSU got screwed that year having to play a team twice in one year. It is almost never good for the team that wins first. Also one of the reasons we have a playoff coming.

I feel it would of been a different story playing OSU.

ETA: The fourth factor was how horrible we played. It was a disgustingly pathetic performance on such an incredible year.

or the fact les quit on his team. Saban made his arse quit. WHo in their right mind would not be in no huddle 2 minute offense when we were down 15-0? then 21-0? Nobody but miles. Allowing JJ to HAND OFF in the 4th quarter watching the clock tick down. absolutely idiotic coaching. unforgivable.

Totally agree. I would feel much differently had we gotten the National Championship that team deserved. But after seeing him make no attempt to win that ball game, including keeping key players on the sidelines, I now have zero tolerance for his stupidity. I get the same feeling as 1/9 every time he makes stupid decisions that cost us ball games.

We do know Les is capable of 13-0 with a dysfunctional Qb situation.

A lot of people I know thought it was horrible that Les won his Nc because it meant we had to keep him awhile. I have also seen this sentiment on the Rant, too lazy to find the specific posts.
I' m pretty confident that had we beat OM, then run the table thru the Seccg, beat Oregon in the NC there would still be plenty of idiots on here wanting Miles gone early next year when he doesn't call a time out when they think he should or he doesn't play someone. Hang 'em with a new rope and they'd STILL be bitching!

You mean if Les prepared his team to win the biggest game of his life instead of coming up with the most halfass gameplan of all-time with the sole goal of getting his felon pet JJ the MVP trophy, would fans feel differently? Maybe.

Almost as bad is how LSU had a perfect shot to knock Bama down a notch in 2012...and then Les shits the bed undoing an awesomely orchestrated 2nd half, paving the way to a softball NC against extremely overrated Notre Dame.

Now here LSU is..3rd in the west before even facing Alabama. Sucks.

Starting to feel like a point of no return.

It is a point of no return. I believed LSU got screwed the moment Less lucked his way to the 07 Natty, mostly because deep down fans knew Saban was still as Bama and would own Less. Saban essentially ended LSU football as we know it on Jan 9 just like he built it years prior. We are screwed until Less and 3rd and Chavis leave the building.

If LSU had secured that win over Bama last year we'd all be happier. To not even get any measure of revenge is what makes it all worse

We have been Clemsoning since Penn State and I think that's why fans feel the way they do.

We haven't met many, if any, teams that out-matched us with players, but we lost most of those games due to coaching.
