Who would be the top candidates to replace him?

(offseason thread)

disclaimer: not hoping anything happens to Les. I hope he's here for another 10 years as long as we're winning 9-10 games a year with the occasional SEC championship.

I'm just genuinely curious who candidates would be.

I'd think we'd have to consider promoting Frank Wilson or maybe Chavis to keep continuity. Or bring in someone from the outside (Patterson/Petersen) and risk them bringing in their own staff and losing recruiting relationships.

Cam Cameron would be a good fit in 2-3 years.

Ratphuc Hobley has to be one of the top assistant coaches in the USA now, right?

He'd be a strong hire

Miles isn't leaving. He has the sweetest job on earth. Win 10/13 games a year with some of the best talent in America and haul in $4.5 million every year. All he really needs to do is recruit well and let his coordinators take over. Its on cruise control !!! He is the luckiest man on earth.

Oh, I know it. This is more if something happens where he CANNOT coach.

This is a fine choice. SEC experience, winner, everything you look for. Recruits well.

Patterson got spanked his 1st year in a real conference. Plus, he runs a 4-2-5, which would really waste our LB talent.

We all know you want Miles career to end the way Jim Pittman's did.

This is a very likely possibility as long as it doesn't happen in the next 2-3 years. After that he's coach in waiting.

Patterson/Petersen)

Peterson would be eaten alive by the pressure in BR. Keep running the statue of liberty on blue turf in Idaho Pete.

Patterson is someone that I just don't understand. He doesn't seem all that personable, and seems like he's a prickly fricker too. Winning in NON-BCS leagues getting the scraps from TX HS football really isn't that impressive IMO.

7-6 his first year in a terrible Big 12 should have cooled people on him imo. Not saying he's not a good coach, but I think there are coaches that I would enjoy supporting more than him.

I would love Sumlin, although I think he is destined for the NFL.

Briles would probably be my choice right now.

Think he's got a good demeanor and love his TX connections and history with developing strong offenses.

James Franklin would be next.

My dream choice that would never happen would be Leach. Love that crazy fricker

But Spurrier has always been my favorite coach with Les as a close second so clearly personality is high on my list of priorities for a coach

Here's hoping Les is around until the next decade at least

My vote would be James Franklin, Chris Peterson, Gary Patterson, Chip Kelly (if he returns to the college game), etc. Anybody that runs a disciplined program... With Louisiana talent and what LSU is willing to pay coordinators, any of those head coaches would do better than Miles has...

DAMN. I can tell you really don't give 2 shits about having a good defense.

Art Briles? No thank you.

Leach? You gotta be trolling at this point.
