F King disagrees. He won't be firing anyone.

I'd take a look at Dan Majerle at GCU. Just a hunch but my guess is he knows how to draw a play.

Not really. He's brought in some big recruits, but in the end, the results with those guys haven't been very impressive.

This is stupid. Reasonable expectations, what everyone said, was to make the tourney in year 3. You can't penalize him for raising expectations by the talent he brings in. That is his strength. So if you're saying he gradually raised the expectations, then he was doing his job despite the frustration.

This is the year to take the next step, so it looks like he'll fail there.

But going into this season, while his coaching was frustrating, he met expectations from when he was hired. He built the roster, brought in talent, and got LSU back in the tourney. LSU had made the tourney once since 06 and followed it up with a 2-14 SEC record.

3rd in the SEC and a tourney birth last year. That is a hell of a turn around from Trent.

Trents last 3 years - 12 SEC Wins

Last year - 11 SEC wins in an improved SEC

So yes, if we don't improve this year and make the tourney, he should probably be let go. The fact that these are the expectations now show he's done his job until this year.

He's one of the lowest paid coaches in the SEC.

LSU just got back its most important player in Hornsby.

Chill a bit before calling for Jones' head.

Exactly, we lose a lot after this year that we are not replacing with kids who are expected to be early and significant contributors.

It might get ugly next year. I don't think any firing will be done this year, but I do think next year could possibly get ugly enough to raise some serious talk.

whatever he's getting it's too much. 4-4 is unacceptable at this point. When they get to full health and strength, there needs to be significant improvement.

I agree but don't put blakeney with Hornsby and Ben. Tone has been part of the problem.

let's start with curious george. i'm pretty sure that his inquisitive nature will at least have the team interested in beneficial game opportunities. they'll at least win some games by accident.

FWIW, Jones's buyout is $400,000 per year for each year remaining on his contract. So if he is under contract for 3 seasons after termination, he would be owed 1.2 million. This is assuming nothing changed with the annual buyout numbers when the contract was extended.

There is also nothing in the contract about him finding other work in good faith and having that amount deducted from what LSU owes.

i can't understand this attitude. like the last 3 seasons (60% wins despite a LOT of talent) and the 12 before that just don't exist.

he's freaking horrible. he never should have been hired in the first place in order to be fired.
