I agree, and I've been a big JJ fan

While his product was frustrating, he's met anyone's reasonable expectations from the state of the program when he took over

But this is going to be our best roster in the next 3 years. Can't miss it

Yup. I've been a huge supporter of Coach Jones up until this point. In fact I was really happy how last season unfolded, despite some negativity from the "fans".

I'm still fine with saying he did a great job up until this season. However this is a total clusterfrick right now. I couldn't have dreamed of LSU being this bad so far.

Also, I'm sure it's been discussed, but Tony Bennett's wife is from Baton Rouge. I know for a fact they were VERY interested in coming back while they were at Wazzu.

Now I'm not sure that's the case anymore. Maybe there's less competition and easier admission requirements, but UVA has a SICK new arena and plenty of $$

What LSU should do, in every sport, is fire the coach and cancel all remaining games after the second loss of any season.

Tony Bennett is making 1.92 million dollars until the 2020-2021 season. If he left after this year, he would owe UVA 1.2 million dollars.

Basically, if you wanted to fire Jones and hire Bennett for next season, LSU would have to pay 2.4 million dollars (1.2 to Johnny Jones and 1.2 to UVA), in addition to a raise for Bennett which would probably be 2.5 million per year for 6 years. After what just happened with the Miles debacle, do you really think anyone will approve that?

No

That's really not that much money at all. Seriously I'd piss my pants if we stole him from UVA

Tony Bennett ain't leaving UVa any time soon. And we aren't on the list of schools he would leave for.

I keep mentioning Archie Miller on here, but it's because he's built a consistent winner in a decent league, has a good pedigree, and hasn't made the big jump yet so he's still attainable for us.

It's still early enough that he hasn't made Dayton into Gonzaga, Butler, or Witchita St.

The problem is it becomes double that when you factor in Jones's buyout. And then the raise Bennett would require to get here.

I agree the ship has probably sailed for him; just pointing out there was a time we could have gotten him.

Hasn't Archie's brother been very outspoken about wanting his brother to hold out for a blue blood job? We'd have to offer him at least 3 million, but we really do have the money if we wanted to do it.

But Clarence Caesar wouldn't have come to anymore alumni basketball games.

Archie also just signed a contract through 2020-2021. I cannot find the details of it though.

He may have. I just know Archie is considered one of the rising stars. Just has "it". I know where we can get around $1.5MM right now. But seriously, we can afford that.

Dayton's a private school, so details will be hard to come by.

If we could explain to Miller that Louisiana is stockpiled with talent the next 4 years, we have SECN $$$, and maybe promise a PMAC overhaul over the next few years, it'd maybe be enough. I just think it'd take an unbelievable amount of promises for LSU to get probably THE biggest mid-major hire.

I'm still insanely butthurt Louisiana native Avery Johnson already has Alabama rolling.

Based on the way Anthony Grant helped Saban recruit football players in South Florida, you better believe he'll be using this as well.

jones only makes 1.5 million. tony bennett would make a ton of sense.

bottom line is, you have to spend money to get the best coaches.

LSU just got back its most important player in Hornsby.

True, but they lost to freaking Houston even with Hornsby playing out his mind. There is simply no excuse for that.

For those that are saying we have top 10 talent. I would have to disagree right now. We probably have the 3 or 4th most talented team in the sec alone. We have TQ Hornsby and Ben. Other than that I don't think anyone would start or even play on vandy uk or tamu.

That's not am excuse. This team is plenty capable of being a good team. Someone needs to turn this shitshow around.
