Dude, you're harsh.

I'm not suggesting this.

Here's a clue, sparky. You have to have a quick and rather fast on his feet QB to run a system like Oregon's. Have you ever seen them play? Have you see Mett try to run?

LSU could run an up tempo offense effectively minus the read plays for the QB. Mett plays his best ball out of the shotgun.

Like I've mentioned in previous threads though, Miles is dead set on keeping Mett under center and rolling him out, which is a terrible idea.

LSU has athletes all over the field. Let Mett sit back in shotgun and sling it. When the defense starts getting aggressive defensively, hit em with the screens.

Regardless, whatever it is we are doing, MUST change, as our offense has been our downfall for quite sometime now.

I don't want an Oregon offense. I don't want a tam offense.

I want a power running game (which we have) with a pro style pass game(which we have to potential).

We lost the bowl game. Oh well. Offense would have had much better stats this year if the Oline performs more consistently (like against Bama) and receivers would catch (too many drops early in the year).

Mett played decent for a first year starter and I expect a better QB next year.

We must be more successful in the red zone and we have to have a better FG kicker.

I believe all of that will be improved next year except for maybe the kicker (that will be a mystery).

This is probably how it will go. I realize that....Just discussing the possibilities.

Not so sure if it will be improved though.

And, like it or not, I would submit that even though we beat Oregon in 2011, and we've won a championship and they haven't, that Chip Kelley and the Oregon program is held in higher esteem nationally than LSU....because they have an exciting offense.

I'm amazed how many people embrace our boring offense. It's one thing if you're winning championships. But ours is costing championships.

The up tempo offense requires a certain type of QB. I'm fine with the pro style conventional offense but not the predictability and lack of ingenuity we have right now.

Pro style doesn't mean toss diving into 9 man fronts.

There is nothing wrong with our offensive "system". The problem is with execution. This is a player and coaching staff issue and is correctable.

Hopefully the Oline will be upgraded next season with better tackles. Mett needs better protection. Then we need plays that get our recievers open. Then Mett needs to hit recievers with the ball. Then the recievers need to catch the ball. Those are the changes that need to be made.

The problem with the offense is the schemes and concepts are so vanilla it makes them easy to defend. Hard to execute when to defense is always in the right position due to the fact you are so predictable.

In order to find out if we should change out offensive system, we should first look to try to define what our system was/is.

2009-2011 we were zone-read with a quarterback who absolutely HATED running it. He had the skills but not the mental toughness needed to run the system he was most ideally suited for.

2011 through 8 games we were very pro style with no option and we led the SEC in passing efficiency and blew folks' doors off.

This year we tried to be run heavy but attrition and vanilla schematics along with some lumps in execution cost us.

But at times we go haywire. Bowl game is case in point. We ran a hair under 50 plays, and run pass was 40:60...with a decided advantage in the run game and 8 sacks passing.

We got away from our identity, telegraphed some plays and got torched by what all accounts is/was a shitty DL.

Bottom line is that we aren't sure what our identity is at this point. We go back and forth with scheme and personnel, and none of it seems to work consistently. When we had a good thin going in 2011, we went away from it ASAP when Jefferswag beat the rap.

We got told in 2008 we needed a mobile QB that could make plays with his legs. In late 2008, we thought we had it.

In 2009-2010, we were told we needed more pro-style, that the zone read option stuff was ineffective. In 2011, we got pro style, it worked, and we still went away from it.

In 2012, we thought we knew what we were, but we sputtered, leaned on a QB whose WR's couldn't catch it, didn't take advantage of the backs in the passing game, forgot what TE's were for, and then at the end, forgot who we were...

Bottom line is that we need an identity, we need better execution, and we need the ability to adapt the system to the talent on hand. Our head coach has made a series of shitty hires without success...I'm worried...

Perhaps, but I'm not hot to revamp the LSU O for a HS guy who hasn't taken his 1st practice snap much less faced a BCS D.

After the guy plays a tad, maybe.

I like to see how a guy does in real games before appointing him a starter or a savior. We all saw how that worked out with Mett when many here were singing his praises before he had taken his 1st snap in a real game for LSU.

Never Happen...hasn't happened, won't happen.

LSU Fans will need to Get on Board with Miles lack of style ...or Pick a New Team...He will not Change.

On a complexity scale, maybe a 2.

It's a do or die year for the offense. Defense will not carry this team next year.

Well until Miles gets that this 3plays and punt shite isnt going to win us a NC, he wont let the OC take the reigns. Hell he lets the DC call anything that feels right. Our defense is great. He puts his two cents in on the offense and we are on a steady decline.
We keep up this offensive decline and our recruiting will steadily decline with it. Still puzzles me why ANYONE would send their son here to play QB. Our passing attack sucks. Everyone else is lightyears ahead of our scheme..
If everyone had our talent, they would beat us like a drum. Its a shame to have talent and not use it

we really don't have that much talent on offense. Oline is much better at run blocking but pretty bad at pass blocking. We have one really good running back (two if Blue returns), very average recievers, and an immobile QB that is not very accurate. Still we should be able to do more than what we do.

The only comment I have heard from Miles so far came in post game comments where he said an obvious adjustment needs to be made on offense. Guess I am a nega-Miles who believes he will change.
