Not looking for a name but would LSU be able to hire a big name coach or would we settle for an up and coming coach? Saban was not a well known commodity at the time he was hired. Miles wasn't either. Would we go that route again or have we gotten to a point where we should expect a "Big Name" hire.

Lou Holtz! He'll be retired by then and make as much sense as Miles. We can have him ride around in Mike's trailer.

Saban was a very well known coach. He had already turned down the HC job with the Colts and the Giants.

In the 90's the best we could do was crap but we have have grown and have enough NC trophies that we should always expect a Big Name hire.

That doesn't mean we can't go tye up and comer route. Just because we dont go out and steal a head coach from another team doesn't mean we made a bad hire.

Personally, I would't care either way. If the potential hire had a proven track record at the college level (D 1-AA/AAA II, III) When I say proven record, I mean that he's completely turned programs around or maintain high levels wherever he's been.. If that's the case, I'm game.

What's scary is our AD will make the hire. He's worth less than a day old piss.

Well we can't take saban now, he loses games. Just not good enough for LSU.

I think we gotta go offensive minded coach and make him hire a lock down DC. Look at most of the big time coaches today are offensive minded.

I know people are gonna say Saban, but even he is acknowledging you gotta be able to open it up more.

Urban Meyer
Briles
Patterson Defensive, but when TCU has been great, they have had great OCs. The HC at Memphis (Fuentes)was a great OC for TCU. He's done wonders for Memphis. Im anxious to see how he does.
Malzahn
Jimbo
Oregon HC

I'm anxious to see how chad Morris will do at SMU. Hate he took that job for his first big gig.

I just think in CFB's new landscape you gotta have a good offense. And people who think you only can run outta the I formation are stupid. There are teams all over the country that run the ball more effectively than LSU outta variations of the spread.

I'm really wanting to see LSU play good offense again.

The only name you need to know is Gary Patterson.

I personally would love James Franklin. I don't see why his name isn't tossed around more. Anybody that can win nine games a year and recruit top 25 classes yearly to Vanderbilt knows his stuff. He will just be getting done with his 3rd year at Penn State when Les's contract is up. I hope LSU takes a long and hard look it him.
