I am really looking forward to the D this year. LSU has exceptional DB and DE and the LB will be good as will the DT.

I like where the D is going. Cautiously optimistic about the DT's, have good to great confidence about the rest of the D.

Think Brandon Taylor in the 2011 year. In 2008 he was a starting CB and our best. He was the most knowledgeable and best tackler of the DB. In 2010 LSU had PP and the CB had some really good young players come to the program. So they moved Taylor to strong safety.

wrong. he was a CB in 08 as a freshman, but was 2nd string. Hawkins started all yr on one side, and PP7 (also a freshman) took over for Jai as the yr went on. Chavis moved Taylor to SS (and Brooks as well) when he got here in 09, and he started his last 3 yrs there.

He's a talented athlete who appears more comfortable at safety. He has the size, speed and ball skills to be a difference maker for our defense next year. I have no idea who'll be the other safety (Thompson, Jefferson, Martin, Adams???). Plug in 1 more piece and our secondary will be really good.

Robinson, white, and Thomas all > than Mills at CB. It was a good move and it is his best position. Does seem like we are loaded up at safety now and a little short at experienced CB depth. Robinson, White, Thomas, Collins, and Holmes are the only CB's currently on the roster that I can think of. Then Paris, Gage, and perhaps Chark will be true freshman CB's.

Mills is where he belongs at safety.

Its a little concerning, but as they've done in the past, the coaches have proven to be adept at shuffling to get the best talent combination on the field...should the injury bug bite.

Don't forget about Battle. He will be a terrific DB and can play corner or Safety. He will probably start at CB as will Paris.

I was just thinking Battle as a safety, but if he has the hips to cover as a corner, I would really like the move. Bigger tougher corners seem to be the thing right now and at 6'2" and with his aggressive play he would fit the mould.

Yep, missed that one about him being a starter at CB but he played in every game. I am correct though that Chavis moved him to SS because of his smarts and and ability to set the defense.
