I personally know someone who has played for both Saban and Miles and he said Saban never made the players practice too hard so everyone would be fresh for gametime. He said Miles practices players too hard and they are not as fresh towards the end of the game as they normally could be.

I personally know someone who played for both who said the exact opposite.

You cannot condition for concussions...

Do me a favor and smash your head against a brick wall a few times to prove your theory. Like this:

not that i agree with the OP, but conditioning is different from the litany of drills that guys may be subjected to. Some drills are more likely to result in injuries than others. If these injuries happened in scrimmages, well, that's just life. you have to scrimmage.

I have no idea how they practice now but under saban every drill was structured and lasted x amount of minutes.

ETA Based on the success of both coaches I don't know who has the better practices.

I do not understand this thread. Do you have any evidence that LM "practices the players too hard"? If not, why post such an inane statement?

This thread is hurting....

CLM admitted in 05 that he worked them too hard with all the games with no bye weeks and it caught up to them in the SECCG

that's the only time that anyone would say he overworks a team, the majority at one time on this board would have said he was soft on them

Injuries happen. It's a shame when they do. But most can't be avoided, it's a contact sport.

Ive heard from someone who played for both that Miles is a better dancer than Saban and that some mornings Les smells like garlic, while Saban in the mornings smelled sweet, like Candy....who knows

Olinemen getting concussions is interesting to me. Typically, concussions occur more regularly at other positions...such as wideouts getting head hunted by DB's or RB/LBer collisions.

Yes OL/DL hit every play, but this seems strange to me.

With good technique concussions should be rare on the line of scrimmage IMO. I would think center might be most vulnerable.

Maybe just a freaky thing for Faulk and Collins.

All it would take would be for them to pick up a blitzing linebacker or safety and catch a blow to a bad spot. Its not the most common but it does happen and not completely out of the ordinary.

And maybe our Dline is just in beast mode

RUTIGER:

Not in this group. They may be ready for the end of the game, but the time management system used by these coaches at the end of the half or end of the game negate the hard work.

Mental errors have been a killer.

This is pretty the norm for all football coaches. They don't just throw out a ball and tell the guys to have fun. Check your nearest high school foootball coach and see how structured his practices are.

I have seen quite a few practices and participated in many growing up and sabans seem more professional than any I have seen. I don't know that coaches aren't all running them the way he does either. I also added i have no idea how CLM runs his practices but based on success how can you argue which coach has better practices?

Yeah losing all those games last year really made me sad. It seems like it made you an idoiot though.

The point being that practices at the LSU level are highly organized and structured.
