The point being that practices at the LSU level are highly organized and structured.

I never said otherwise.

They've both had concussions?

Aside from looking a little beat late in the 09 game against Bama, LSU has looked pretty good in the 4th quarter overall, including last year vs Bama.

These are both coaches with NFL experience -- and I think they're both sensitive to potential running teams into the gorund during the season

Dude,

Saban never played a team that runs an offensive play every eight seconds. You won't LSU dying in the Fourth Quarter?

Miles is the only FBS coach with players sidelined from injuries during practices.
Fact.

Schools have a limited number of hours they can practice each week, so the idea that one coach works his team more than others is probably wrong. Coaches can push harder in practice, but the hours are about the same across the board.

Not in this group. They may be ready for the end of the game, but the time management system used by these coaches at the end of the half or end of the game negate the hard work. Mental errors have been a killer.

Yeah all those close games we could have won....but never did

Olinemen getting concussions is interesting to me

Why? If you keep up with the retired players that they have been researching about concussions a good portion are O-linemen. They actually get them more frequently than anyother position but they are mild or border line concussions. DBs, LBs and Wideouts are more likely to suffer from more severe concussions at the time of occurence.

The concussion that O-lineman usually suffer they can still run off the field and be treated. Though back in the day many players wouldn't even comeout. There was one reitred O-linemen that was talking about some big drive of like 12 plays where he was concussed (he didn't know it at the time) on the very first play. But it was at the end of the game and he tried to get replaced but they waived at him to stay on the field. And he says he couldn't tell you what happened because he didn't remember the entire drive.

I don't think this is the same story but see what Turley has to say, sounds pretty close.

I personally know someone who has played for both Saban and Miles and he said Saban never made the players practice too hard so everyone would be fresh for gametime. He said Miles practices players too hard and they are not as fresh towards the end of the game as they normally could be.

I bet Saban was wishing he had worked them harder after the 4th quarter of the Iron bowl last year.

Saban was king of the suicides sprints, so I don't think this is accurate.

One of Miles' main strongpoints is that he has his teams prepared for the games.

So I disagree with the original post. He knows what he's doing... at least in this case.
