I see a lot of talk about Clemson's offensive philosophy.

I just want to see LSU utilize its strengths on offense. Put Harris in the shotgun where he is most comfortable, and put LF and Guice together in the backfield. I'm much less concerned about an offensive philosophy per se as much as I am in building a scheme which fits the players we have.

Amen

I don't think Harris should throw it 50 X a game but more balance is crucial and Guice and Fournette in the same backfield would be a nightmare for defenses

I want to see LSU use mis-direction and putting the ball in players' hands to create opportunities for the talent that LSU has.

ALWAYS: players over playbook

What you are reading on Clemson O (from me anyways) is not a new scheme / same players but rather a new way to use same players. LSU has the weapons. Too often seems to warn the enemy before firing.

I mean...I want to see LSU use mis-direction and create space for players to use their talents...to create opportunities.

IMO LSU was trying to move in that direction all season and you could see what they want to be doing in the second half of the bowl game. I think next season we develop even more in the direction you speak of.

First 21 plays against Arkansas had Harris in shotgun. Serious question, do some of yall watch the games?

He struggled in shotgun. Harris is no where close to Watson. Harris can improve on his touch and accuracy but I just don't see the ability for him to scramble around and make plays out of nothing.

It helps your system when your QB is a freak athlete who can wiggle out of trouble and make incredible plays when the system breaks down. Clemson's system wasn't what gave Bama problems. Deshaun Watson is what gave Bama problems. Dude was amazing... And they still lost.

lol did u watch the game where we still are running long developing routes and sending our most unatheltic TE across the middle who is no threat unless on the goaline? Clemson was running pop passes all night.

It's really not a difficult concept. Get our best athletes (and according to recruiting rankings we have a lot of them) in space with the ball. Instead of running it into a front four that could quite frankly all be drafted in the first round. There is more than one way to do this, it would be nice to see our coaching staff attempt to use one of them. Hell I'd be happy with a counter or misdirection run.

Their system is more than just Watson, Nick Marshall beat Bama for crying out loud.

This, this and this. Anyone who watched last night would have to realize that Watson was bad arse. Harris is far off but has the potential to become that.

When you have a QB with the type of talent Deshawn Watson has, you can do wonders with an offensive philosophy of a wide open attacking style.

Exactly. We can still run the ball effectively out of the spread/Gun. Probably more effective then the vaunted Les Miles power I

I feel like Miles is stuck on American Revolution warfare where they just stand there and shoot muskets at one another while the rest of college football is already doing covert ops.

This is true. I don't think it has as much to do with shotgun or under center as some think. We lost to Bama by 14 in Tuscaloosa with our struggling offense. If Clemson doesn't get the last garbage touchdown they lose by 12. While Harris is not Watson, I believe LSU has as much if not more overall talent than Clemson.

Watson is the best QB, and possibly player, in the country so he is going to make any offense look good.

The difference was really the OLine, you keep Harris clean and not under constant pressure and he will be better as well

Clemson's defensive backfield and special teams busts are what lost it for them. Their offense dealt enough points to beat Bama.

Clemson lost the game because of special teams breakdowns and busted coverage. We lost the game because we couldn't move the football. Comparing scores doesn't fix this problem. Yes, Watson had a great performance, but the Clemson gameplan is what tends to beat Bama. Neutralize their size and strength in the middle by getting skill positions on the edge.

Unlike Clemson, we were never competitive offensively, if you don't think we can learn something from their approach (not necessarily throwing 50+ times, but getting to the edge), then you're just really not that bright.
