Agreed, but don’t want Jackson either.

Exactly, you can’t rely on him to actually develop anymore.

Maybe I don't know all the info on how his last couple of yrs under o went.

The whole team went to shite and O lost the locker room. You cant evaluate a single coach in a vacuum. DBs can look good or bad depending DL and LB play. People much more knowlegable than the rant need to evaluate personnel on a deeper dive…

If he does, great. If he doesn’t, great.

Our guys could still make plays on the ball when Cory was there. He will bring in NFL type players. Teams started throwing all over the field the last 4-5 years, offenses just changed.

heard him and Napier had some major disagreements and kinda got public in front of the players.

I don’t remember if he had this issue with coach o at the end or not. But if it’s a trend and he becomes a mini Ryan Clark not buying in and voicing problems with any and every decision made by his bosses then I’d rather find someone else that can recruit LA DBs.. absolutely want zero cancer on the team

Supposedly there was some of this under o too. Just seems like a lot of trouble for a cornerbacks coach.

If raymond hadn't been at lsu during the dbu yrs No one would want to hire him back.

I get the allure of bringing back Corey and the dbu title, but it seems like he has slowed down in recent yrs.

In the end, he is just a cornerbacks coach. I think kelly is going to give him another chance with a short leash.

Maybe him being away from lsu for a couple yrs has showed him what he had.

Raymond has created some baggage for himself.
Setting aside his coaching and recruiting abilities/ inabilities, he has sought to re-negotiate his contract while here in the last years and had some not-so-private run ins with Napier before leaving the Gata.
The first issue might be his ego.
If Kelley and Butler want to overlook this risk, they can do so.

The last 4 years Raymonds' Secondaries have been ranked in the 90's. Does his ability to recruit make up for his clear lack of coaching ability?

Linebackers weren’t? Are you kidding me? The linebackers were horrible under Bo Pelini. Easily the weakest part of that defense.

Everyone is talking about the 2021 lineup, so that’s what I’m referring to. That’s when Ricks fricking quit on Raymond and the team, so it should be pretty clear when I was talking about.

Baker got the LB play fixed and turned Clark and Baskerville into a good unit by the end of that season. I know it doesn’t fit into the narrative you’re trying to spin that Raymond can do no wrong and it was everyone else’s fault, but the facts don’t agree with you on this point.

If he comes back, so be it. I hope he can put the last two years behind him and get his shite together, because he will have a tough job ahead next season. And if he doesn’t deliver, it will get real ugly, real fast.
