That is what his coaching tree he comes from calls for. I believe it is Miles not allowing him to.

What? He's an Air Coryell disciple and his flavor of it is built to run the ball and attack downfield. The WR's first route option is a go route and they break thier route off depending on the coverage.

When he was with the Ravens, the fans were constantly complaining about him throwing it deep too much instead of running Ray Rice or hitting his TE's. This didn't just start when he joined Miles...it's Cam's offense.

that might be the problem right there. Seems the QB's 1st check is always the deep route also, which is an even bigger problem. QB should be told before the play where his first check should be based on who is most likely to be open. So many times throwing deep where the underneath is open.

I just don't like his offense design for college ball period. It seems unnecessarily complicated but still doesn't get anyone open.

HOw we don't have recievers running wide open all day with as rarely as we throw is a testament to how crappy his offense play design is.

Maybe Harris is scaring the shite out of them at practice with those throws?

I saw plenty of short to intermediate routes. Dural caught a 9 yard hitch on the first drive and had one bang off his hands when they repeated it later in the second. Dural also dropped that obvious one near the goal line on third and long. That was also a hitch or a route he broke off tho sit in the zone.

Chi dropped the one in the endzone, which of course was a short route. And Chi completely missed a short fade route down the sideline. Throw didn't look two bad, but Chi acted like the DB was raping him.

Tyron Johnson had a five yard hitch bang off his hands on a high throw, and BH threw a bad pass to him on what was supposed to be a ten yard back shoulder throw.

That throw to Jeter was right around 16-18 yards.

BH threw the fade to Chi when he had Fournette sitting wide open.

It's not like we don't run short routes. Most of the time, Fournette is sitting as a check down option. A lot of the short passes are to the sidelines, but they have less chance of being picked, which causes our QBs to lose confidence.

I really do think all the attention that our fanbase and the media puts on our passing efforts has a huge effect on our players. Dural got booed last night. He deserved it, but man, there's a lot of pressure on these young kids to right a ship that has been off course for a while.

Because they don't have Leonard Fournette to hand the ball off to. Why take unnecessary risks when you have the best player in the country you are taking carries away from?

Them LSU must've had LF every year since 2008

The guy obviously has wheels and can run.
He's quick and he's got a strong quick release.

I was watching Fla play last night between games and their qb made a ton of throws underneath and to the sidelines, 2-3 step drop get rid of it.

Lsu for some reason feels the need to throw the ball all way down field on pass plays that statistically aren't high percentage completions for any QB.. Much less BH.
I just don't understand the philosophy of throwing the ball that LSU has. You think they are dominant now running the ball, imagine how things would look with just a slight improvement in the air.
It's frustrating bc this team would be really tough to beat.. Currently I don't see us making it to Atlanta in December the way things are going.

Lsu hasn't trailed this year.
What are we going to do if you're down by 10-14 in the 4th quarter.?

We'll see how it all unfolds.

I certainly agree with a lot of what you are saying. I think they are a Championship Team in Development. It they can peak more each week, we will make it, if they fail to continue to grow it is over.

Jeter seems to drop the fewest passes of anyone. I don't know why Desean Smith isn't used more. I thought they had discovered him as a receiver after the Notre Dame game.

I know the team's offensive strength is running, but if some of these receivers don't get more throws in their direction earlier in a game, then how do we know they'll catch them when it is clutch time and the game is on the line? We know the Tigers won't be able to run every single play & teams like Ole Miss & Bama will likely make the Tigers beat them through the air.

I agree down the stretch we really gonna have to help the run game I saw the recievers drop passes the other night too but I also seen recievers wide open that Brandon missed but I like the progression but it have to be on point down the stretch

Well for one, those shorter passes in the middle of the field have a higher chance at getting picked off

This. Ever since Jarret Lee part 1 Les's play calling has looked scared to throw in that area. He's been snakebite from a time when picks killed the team.

Ironically though, that was also the year LSU had one of the best offenses in the SEC statistically.

Also, there's been plenty of times where we've thrown the ball 5-15 yards and the receiver just dropped it.

And there starts another problem. When they do try it and it doesn't work, the coaches just seem to abandon it. Always seems to work early in the game, like against Miss St and EMU, but first drop/first incompletion/first sack coach just seems to say "frick this" and goes back to pounding it.

The real answer is, you're gonna lose, but that's true no matter what offense you're running. Teams down 13+ in the fourth quarter this season have a record of 3-188.

4-15 80 yards INT is pretty self explanatory. Not to mention Lsu has possibly the greatest RB in the history of college football.
