Really?? Who are a few elite head coaches who have flamed out in their first HC job and then come back as a successful HC at a big-time program. I don't think it works like that.

A guy gets a shot as head coach, and if he fails, he usually goes back to a coordinator position and doesn't elevate above that again. Maybe at a small program, but not at a big one.

Bill Belichick did that. Flamed out in Cleveland with Saban as an assistant.

The problem with Muschamp is that he carried the title of Head Coach (even if in waiting) from a large school.
He went from a large school to another large school

So he never had to get experience as a true Head Coach and grow into the job.

Maybe a little of Peter's Principle applies here.

He is way to excited to be a head coach. He needs to either calm down or go back to being an assistant.

The thread makes a reference to O/S and M/S while Miles and Saban were there respectively before they came to LSU. Read the words.

Yes. And quickly would have been in 2012 or 2013. They were not great years.

Maybe. Let's see what he can do by the end of next season as Harris matures.

I read these "Muschamp to LSU " threads and wonder: WTF has anyone seen about his tenure at UF that makes you want him here?
His record?
His recruiting? His "clock Management"?
His pleasant on field demeanor?
His not being Miles?

Or is it just Saban lovers thinking Boom would bring back some sort of magic?

Please shed light. I don't see any.

As a DC sure.

HC in Waiting is terrible. (Remember WVU fiasco?)

HC with Muschamp, probably not.

In Muschamp's defense, he inherited a program that Meyer himself jumped ship on. He has been riddled with shitty coordinators, and injuries.

It'll never happen under Les, but I'd love him as a DC.
