who would pass up on 1st round baseball money? as much as i would've loved to have the chance to play for LSU, i wouldn't have passed that up. that's what you're playing for in college. to work your way the draft boards. and if you're coming out of high school as a 1st rounder, what else do you need to prove and work on in college?

Les and the entire LSU staff should have known that this would be a realistic possibility all along. If Lee gets picked and they don't have another qb, it is solely on them.

A way to make a decent living for the rest of your life. How many of these kids actually make the big leagues? A choice of what sport you want to play at the next level if they are good enough. A chance to mature and enjoy their youth and have more of a normal life. Money aint everything and it is hard for the uneducated to hold on to it.

They're only doing the 1st round tonight, so I doubt that Zach Lee is taken until tomorrow.

True but get offered first round money and then try making that decision as easy as you typed that out. Just saying. If your goal is to make first round money why risk the injury to get back to where you already are?

Look if somebody asked me if I would play baseball for $millions I would quit my job in a second. I went to college, I lived the college life and no neither of them was worth millions.

What people get wrong is that you can always go back to college there is no way you pass up millions if they want to give it to you.

the key word is "millions". typically, baseball doesn't pay "millions" for first rounders. more like one to one and half "million".

while that is lot of money. not nearly enough for an 18 year old kid to make it on for the rest of his life.

if you want to think real business. the kid has options. he can keep both open to see what he excels in. if football, he stands to make 50 times more as a rookie as it stands now. if it's baseball, three years from now first round money will be 30 to 50% more than today. lastly, as a athlete, he can insure himself for a million while he's in college. if he gets hurt and it cost him his pro future, he can collect. so the key is, does he want to pass up 500k or so today for an opportunity at "millions" in the future?

Lee won't be picked in 1st round, but even a 2nd or 3rd round pick will mean adiós Tigers IMO.

Just too much $$$ to pass up.
