I had no problem with the metal detectors...it was the cavity search and 20 minute wait to get into a game that had about 6k people in attendance...
They need to experience a Rangers game to see how this should be done...experiences are night and day

My company has had a suite at NRG since the beginning. I've gone to 3-4 games a year since year one of the Texans. Getting out of the blue lot can be a bitch, but the suites are nice. For the money the food in beverage service in the suites is the biggest rip off in all of sports. We routinely drop $1500-2k per game for food service for 18. Aramark has the food contract for the stadiums and they suck.

It gets loud there when the roof is closed.

They had the rail in 2004?

yeah, it had just started running shortly before the Super Bowl. there was a big push to get it done in time if i recall correctly. i had forgotten about the 2011 Final Four as someone else has mentioned. we have it coming up again in a couple of years. Wish the stadium had been built downtown with MM and Toyota, but there is the matter of the rodeo and the need for the extra space for the livestock show.

Stayed downtown and the transportation to and from the stadium was god awful. The stadium was nice. Had a good seat in the 300s. Good food and drink selections but the alcohol vendors shut down in 3rd QTR. The fans in this section were pretty lame.

Stadium is great... Sat next to TGBFTL.

Quit selling beer to soon... Was packing, so whatever.

Light rail from Lil Woody's pre-game was a nightmare. Some awesome dude picked us up after the game cuz we looked so miserable roaming the streets looking for a train station. He did not rape us, and would not take our money.

We parked at some dental building parking lot across the street from the stadium for $20.00. Watched Cowboy Mouth a bit before the game, went in early. Had no trouble getting food/drink/beers. Our seats were field level.

I didn't like the acoustics--couldn't hear the band very well (we were at the other end of the field away from the band, 20 yd line).

After the game we got caught in the herd on the way out but the walk to the car was easy and getting out was very easy.

I'm glad we decided not to take the metro as we planned earlier.

Had a great time before, during, and after the game. It was a great day.

Parking lot was harder to get out of than Alex Box--it took 50 min to go 75 yards in a straight line. Stadium nice no problem--view was very good

Great stadium with no problem getting to beer/ concessions.

Worst part about the experience was sitting next to some old, negative-arse, men that wouldn't say shite...unless it was of course, negative. Really hate this about our "neutral-site" games. It's such a "sit down, kick back, golf clap" atmosphere if we're on offense, and if we're not making plays on defense.

Best part (aside from winning) was stepping outside of my section (129), witnessing a young couple getting into it with and older guy (maybe 45-50?)...cops were all involved...I stepped aside, hauled arse to the restroom, and when I returned, the older guy was getting tazed, and the cops were hauling their asses out. I mean...sucks for those people...but sure did make for some good entertainment.

The whole thing about needing a ticket to tailgate seemed a little over the top.

I felt like I was being herded around the stadium all day.

Even with more planning they still would not have solved the crowding issues on the trains. Only thing they could have done was suppliment the rail with busses taking people from Midtown/Downtown to NRG.

Thanks Captain Obvious. Lets not forget your great advise.

quote:

If you are going to the game I cannot stress enough if you don't have a parking pass for Reliant parking lots, take the Light Rail to the game. Park in a lot downtown near the rail line (I always park in the lot next to the Metro Transit Building). Take the rail in for the game. It's a breeze and beats the shite traffic around Reliant. Also DO NOT STAY NEAR THE STADIUM!!! I REPEAT DO NOT STAY NEAR THE STADIUM!!!

Stay on light rail route. Do not stay near Reliant no matter how close hotels are. Not terribly nice hotels and even worse neighborhoods.

Everyone that posted they stayed at the Crowne Plaza was pleased, including me. I am glad I had enough common sense to avoid that rail at all cost. As I expected, it turned out to be a cluster F$$$.

Stayed at the crowne plaza next to the stadium Friday and Saturday night and it was perfect. I'm also glad I didn't listen to bamahater and AVOID that hotel AT ALL COSTS. It was too convenient! Stadium was nice, glad we pulled out the Win.

Parked at the lot at the end/beginning? of the tram line and we got out in no time. It's only one stop southbound while 90% of the people need to go northbound. That's the way to go if I ever go back again.

As for getting in, it took 30 mins to get in. Not terrible except the people doing the metal detectors were completely unprepared and didn't seem to care to get people in the game. There lacked any real direction as to how to get people in the game. There were 3 separate gates in the corner that I was in. There was a line a mile long at one gate, a line a little shorter at the next, and no one at the third. It was so poorly coordinated that it blew my mind once we walked high enough on the concourse to see what was happening.

Now the concessions. It seems most people had good and bad results. Mine was terrible. They were out of hotdog and hamburger buns by the 2ND QUARTER!!!!!! And it took me three seperate trips to get my food because the workers had no desire to work at any sort of rate to get people their food.

The seats were good and the stadium was fine. Just the concessions and admission were absolute shite.

My first time no NRG.
- Very nice stadium comparable to Jerry World
- Took way too long to get a chicken tender basket before the game (Rio Grille?)
- Traffic where we parked ($30 lot on SE area) was very slow getting going. Seemed like 45-60m before anything started moving.
- Scoreboard layout could be better - "ball on" lights were too small.

Sat in the Chairman's Club in the very last row of the stadium. Awesome seats with a private lounge area with free food and drinks and the most awesome cookies at halftime! Comfortable seats and no lines for anything!!

Parked at the Holiday Inn through ParkWiz and it was very easy getting out of the stadium. I had a great time!!!
