HOW TO MAKE THE RECRUITING BASH BETTER

This is a post to help the Gridiron club and LSU. Please keep that in mind before pressing "Submit"
The food and beer lines were extremely short. The idea of throwing giveaway footballs was a good one.
Couple of my ideas:
1) Lower the price
2) Have Les Miles sign the footballs which are thrown out at different points, have more of them, and throw them, out to all of the areas.
3) Add big screens for the folks in the back and show the LSU games. Not sure why this stopped, but it made for a long da without them.
4) Move the haircut booth out from the middle of the floor - it blocked the view for many of us, even though the blonde in it was fairly hot.
5) Make it more women and kid friendly. I know, hard to do, but for kids, you could add a bounce room and have the old punt, pass and kick contests, at least. Poll the women and figure out what it wouold take to make them come.
6) Improve the food. I'm guessing it was a donation, but the gumbo, jambalaya, and that crawfish pata were
. This is Baton Rouge, Louisiana for goodness' sake.
7) Get the students involved -not nearly enough were there, and this should not be.
8) There is not enough to do during the whole time there, and more entertainment is desperately needed. Hopefully others can help out here.
9) Use assigned seating so you don't have to worry about getting a beer and losing your spot.
10) Cut a deal with tickemaster so we don't get raped with fees for printing the ticket for yourself, for example, or, better yet, let the BR businesses distribute them out so people frquent their business.
I hope this doesn't fall on deaf ears because this is just another LSU blueblood club. Sorry about that term, but when I saw the unadvertised front tables at $1,000 a piece with pitchers for their table, etc., and all of the $1,000+ auction items I felt a little out of place.
Sincerely,
Joe Fan

Your kids are suppose to be in school. Most of what you're saying would cost $$ which would raise the ticket prices.

Agreed. This was my first time at the bash. I thought it was great! Can improve it, just like anything else, but the atmosphere was great yesterday.

Never said the kids thing was for me. At $40 to $45+ per ticket PLUS all of the $$$ they made off the donated items and auction, they can afford to give a little instead of drain a lot.
The IV needs to geaux.

i thought that they showed highlight videos last year of all the recruits on a certain tv all day...i didn't see that this year

I went to the bash thinking that you would get the latest info on the recruits as it was annouced. Not the case. The people at the bash were the last to know about what was happening.
It just was not enough about recruiting and giving us info on the recruits. i mean when Richardson was making his annoucement we had a freaking auctioneer rambling on about a damn painting or something for $2500. Like 99% of the crowd gave a shite.

It was dissapointing that they showed RR's commitment on the TVs a few hours late.

Maybe I don't have a discerning palate for Cajun food, but I thought the jambalaya was really good. Did you get there after the food booths in the back had shut down? It was a good eats bonanza back there during lunch.
Improving the video entertainment would be the first place to start. I guess they can't have a band because they would keep interrupting them to announce the signees.
It's always going to be on a school day, so no kid entertainment. I'd still be down for a bounce house though.

I'd like to see Dandy Don go streaking.........through the quad.......and around the gymnasium!

Keep at least 2 of the screens on ESPNU at all times for those that aren't involved in the auctions, etc...this goes along with what some of the other posters were saying.
Also, make sure there is a women's restroom in the actual exhibition hall...I understand there are significantly more men in attendance but this was a pain especially when there was an announcement coming up.
As for the student attendance issue, I am an LSU student and didn't mind skipping class to go to the Bash. I think if there was a discounted LSU student rate, you would have more students there regardless if it was on a school day.

The only improvement I would want is more screens showing highlights or replays of games all day and bring back more former players to speak!! All in all I had a blast once again!

A truly terrible, horrible, horrifying idea.

I thought the food situation was much better this year than in year's past. The front tables with waitresses kept the lines short in the back to get food and drink....great idea.
Last few years it was 30 minutes to an hour to eat lunch.....this year walk up and eat all you want right then.
Like the stage and curtains turned the way they were this year....felt much more open. Good time and good deal.
$40 isn't too expensive either. The money goes to Miles to use as he wants. Maybe up it to $50 a piece.

For the most part it was a boring event. You just sit around all day and wait for Coach Miles to come and speak about the class. I will still go but it is lacking on entertainment. The layout was nice as far as the food/beer lines and stage setup. Where are all the past LSU greats? Can't we get some of them to participate. Maybe have guest speakers Coach Mainieri, Skip Bertman or Trent Johnson etc. How about a football toss dunking booth or something.

I knew the kid part would go over like a turd in a punch bowl, but if one of the other rooms was used, I think it could go over well. If you want to be the LEADER in this type of thing ou have to grow.
Coach PM did speak, but we do need more entertainment.

They do get former Tiger Greats to come in and talk. Glen Dorsey, Corey Webster, etc...
BTW: Trent could not be there, he was busy getting ready to beat Georgia in Athens, GA.

OK, Glen Dorsey, Corey Webster, Lionel Turner... How about somebody from the other ten decades of LSU football. Forgot TJ was in GA.
