Say what you want, but les used his get out jail free card last year.

This is a make or break year for him.
It's for him to win something that actually has some value.
1)SEC champ, anything else is lagniappe.

Let's be honest. Miles has proven to be a very successful coach who has kept LSU in the national spotlight during his tenure. No sensible reader can dispute his share of ups and downs. LSU recruits great but also is a victim of its success as evidenced by the rash of early entries to the NFL in recent history, more so than most universities.
However, the frustration which has been articulated during this thread is the stubbornness to adapt to the changing face of football. With the exception of Mett's senior season, LSU's offense has been painful to watch since Flynn's departure, not because of lack of talent. Passing statistics bear this out as the Tigers rank towards the bottom of NCAA stat lines fairly regularly. His allegiance to Bo's method can beat many teams but it is time to embrace the way the game is played today. Can Les adapt? It pains me to say, a leopard cannot change his spots.

It is absurd to think that, should LSU go 10-2 and earn a New Years Six bowl bid, that Les Miles would be terminated and paid $12.8 million over the next 2.5 years to NOT coach LSU Football. There is ZERO CHANCE, in that scenario, that he would be terminated by his bosses. ZERO. Dr Alexander and the BOS isn't gonna terminate Les in that scenario even if the majority of LSU fans are demanding it.

Will LSU fans be satisfied at 10-2 in that scenario? Most would probably NOT be completely satisfied because the expectations are so high. But the future of Les Miles is not going to be determined by popular opinion of Les Miles.

We have the same QB, a weaker OL, the same coach, a beat up DL with a new philosophy and coach. I haven't raised my expectations. We are ranked high. That's it. At one point last November we were #2.

I think it will take 3 losses. But as others have said, it depends on how we lose. 4 losses and he is gone. No doubt.

What exactly is dumb about it?

Lsu expects championships.
Is les miles not a champ caliber coach?
Is this not arguably his best team since his arrival? Certainly top3 in terms of talent and exp.

People like you are what's wrong with LSU football right now.
Perfectly content with 9-10 wins and shitty arse bowl win vs a team the likes of Texas tech all the while getting owned by ark, ole miss and Alabama.

Grass is always greener?? Be careful what you wish for.
I'm by no means settling and I want LSU to win every game and win nattys every year, but at the same time, I'm a realist. Let's just let the season play out and go from there. We haven't even started the season and we are talking about Miles needing to do such and such or he'll be fired. How about we hop on the train and get behind Les and the team and start the season!! Fire away....

Who said I was content? I enjoy every win. Miles haters seem to have the habit of calling all our wins shitty after predicting them to lose

What does that have to do with this season and the expectations of it?

Clearly, Tyron J was told things would change and a week into fall practice realized that Miles is either too stubborn or too stupid to learn from the fact that he wuite nearly lost his job. Smh.

Regardless of wins/losses outcome, a balanced offense or he's gotta go

It's a shame that your vote counts the same as mine

If LSU can win a NC by running fournette, guice, and Harris every damn play I wouldn't give 2 shits about balance.

For that reason, plus what happened to Coach Miles last season, I think they HAVE to open it up more

Obviously, Tyron J saw something in the first week of practice that shows that isn't happening

That's something we can agree on, Choctaw. I don't care so much about balance. What I want to see is when the one-dimensional isn't working, that adjustments are made. I want to see Harris be given some high percentage passes to gain some confidence/momentum rather than expecting him to complete only low percentage downfield passes. I want to screens package that Fournette and Guice can excel in. I want to see actual game clock and play clock management.
