MY concern is that with all the hype LF7 and our running game is getting opponents are going to load the box even more than they usually do and say screw it - we're going to stop the running game and if they beat us with the pass so be it.

We still need to pass the ball at least a little bit to keep the defense honest. So far haven't had the need to do it but we will have to do it against the likes of Bama.

We pass to the TE now so it's okay

Yeah, so they'll make it easier to pass, which we can do too.

If they bring their safeties way up into the box, then there is ZERO reason why we can't throw fades down the field to Dupre and Dural. I'll take Dupre one-on-one with any DB.

And I'll take Jeter against an undersized FS all day

The quick screen should be able to get five yards a pop if they load too much. I believe Harris is capable downfield too.

They would get penalized, you can only have 11 players on field

There's going to be a team that will shut him down....some. It's just going to happen. But when that time comes...

It's not really about the pass, the running game is much more diverse than it was last year and we're running from passing sets. This isn't your 2014 bunch set offense. Auburn didn't really load the box.

As long as you don't run up the middle every time( see second half of MSU game) it's easy to take advantage of over commitment to stopping the run. That was what killed AU last Saturday.

Normally I'd be concerned about teams loading the box, but I just don't think it matters this year. The line and backs are just that good plus Harris is a major thread to run. Auburn is down but they are still SEC athletes.

Auburn had, I think, 10 men in the box on our first offensive play Saturday. The play LF ran right up the middle for 71 yards. Let other teams do the same and LF will continue doing that. Will he do it every play? Well of course not. But once or twice and teams will have to back off the line some. Also, people can say all they want about our "lack" of a passing game, but Harris has been very efficient and he hasn't even thrown much. Let him throw 25-30 passes and his efficiency numbers stay the same. He's played very very smart.

Jacob Hester said it best. It's also a risk for the defense to pack both safeties in the box and plenty of long runs come against stacked boxes. If you pick the wrong gap and miss a tackle, its over.

Like the first play of the Auburn game. How many people watching that game thought #7 would get the ball on the left side of the offense on the first snap? It still boils down to out executing the other team.

I like our chances. any extra people coming up in run support will still weigh 30-40lbs less than our rbs. if they want to throw some bigger bodies in there, they won't be able to keep up with our tes or wr.

If we assume we are in I formation with two wideouts, and those wideouts are covered by CB's, this leaves the defense with only 9 other possible players to put in "the box". Normally against a run heavy team, a defense will "load the box" by dropping the strong safety down low to the tight end side. This can complicate the blocking scheme, but in no way is it impossible to block an 8 man box, as we have shown.

Now if the defense truly becomes desperate and wants to bring down the FS as well, then they must be made to pay for this desperation move. Even our risk averse coaching staff will throw the ball in this situation as the percentage of success would be so high.
