Wrong. Miles' personality and relationship with parents are what gets most recruits.
The things you mentioned gets players to have offical visits and to get players to consider lsu. Miles and the staff are what brings it home.

This is just bullshite.

Les and Frank didn't just sit on their fricking hands. If they had, fournette would be wearing crimson or burnt orange.

Some of y'all are going to get a wake up call when the change is made.

Exactly. First and foremost im not sure LSU will shell out big money to an up and comer.
Secondly i dont have faith in alleva to make a good hire.

I honestly feel like I've fallen asleep and then awoken to find myself stuck in a geauxonline.com thread circa 1999.

I mean, this EXACT SAME stuff was said. If that site still existed, you could just have cut and pasted.

I disagree that the school recruits itself. It just doesn't work that way for the majority of recruits. I wish it did.

I do think we will force Fisher and Herman to absolutely say no before they look elsewhere.

I don't trust Alleva and Co to do what's best for LSU, but I trust they are survivors and will do what's best for them in this case, which is to listen to the majority. They have no benefit of the doubt.

I certainly don't think they want to go through the nightmare of pulling the trigger only to end up with a Dan Mullen or some other second tier guy who ends up being Les 2.0. Their job wouldn't survive it.

The next coach might have a down year or two. Long term, we come out ahead.

Miles was good at recruiting. But it's not like somebody else can't come in and do better.

Obviously recruiting will take a short term hit, but the right hire shortens that process.

Anyone taking away from Les' recruiting prowess is sacrificing their credibility.

Don't doubt that at all, but LSU doesn't recruit itself. Sure you have guys that would pick LSU no matter what. But the best players can and will be swayed away.

If he beats bama, and gets us into the playoff, we come out ahead.

Class recruit ranking means zilch when ya can't sniff a playoff.

How many people here would have bet money against us getting LF7 and not sniffing a playoff?

Very few.

How could it get better? We're pretty much number 2-3 behind Bama. You're not going to outrecruit saban.

This is one thing, but its another to say Miles really isnt an elite recruiter and we got great classes because we are lsu.

Programs dont recruit themselves.
Not even bama.

Thats all i was saying. Now that miles is probably gone posters are acting like his entire tenure at lsu is worthless and we won in spite of him.

Recruiting is what I fear could take a hit.
Then kick him upstairs as a Special Assistant to the AD and have him at all the Recruiting Functions.

Make no mistake. Miles leaves on his own terms or we can ask the folks in Knoxville how to handle 10 years and counting of irrelevance.

Miles didn't make LSU. We were good before he got here, and we'll be better when he leaves. That's my point. He was great at recruiting. That's not a skill that can't be learned. Hell, Ed O is great at it too.

It can be replicated by someone who does something with the talent, which in turn produces better recruits/playoff births.
