2009

Lost to Florida 3-13. Not on Chavis.
Lost to Alabama 24-15. Not on Chavis.
Leading Ole Miss 17-15 to start the 4th, lost 25-23
Lost to Penn St. 19-17 with FG at end.

Chavis' defense did not win any games for LSU that year unless you count the stop at the end of the Miss.St. game, but we won 30-26.

0-2

2010
Beat Tennessee 16-14. That game was a mess, but I'll give Chavis credit.
Lost to Auburn 24-17. Cam Newton went wild on LSU that day.
Lost to Arkansas 31-23.

1-2

2011
Beat Alabama 9-6. Chavis gets credit.
Lost to Alabama 21-0. Not Chavis' fault.

1-0

2012
Beat Auburn 12-10. Chavis gets credit.
Lost to Florida 14-6. Not Chavis' fault.
Lost to Alabama 21-17. Gave up 14 points at end of each half. Chavis' fault.
Beat Texas A&M 24-19. Chavis gets credit.
Beat Arkansas 20-13. Chavis gets credit.
Lost to Clemson 25-24 with a drive at the end. On Chavis.

3-2

2013
Lost to Georgia 44-41. Chavis' fault.
Lost to Ole Miss 27-24 with a game ending FG by Ole Miss. Defense couldn't get a stop. On Chavis.
Lost to Alabama 38-17. Chavis could not stop Alabama in the 2nd half.

There was not a low scoring game that the defense won that year or where the D made a stop at the end.

0-3

2014

Lost to Mississippi St. 34-29. State ran wild. On Chavis.
Lost to Auburn 41-7. Defense was horrible, but would not have won anyway. Not on Chavis.
Beat Ole Miss 10-7. Chavis gets credit.
Lost to Alabama 20-13. On Chavis for total defensive meltdown at the end.
Lost to Arkansas 17-0. Not Chavis
Lost to Notre Dame 31-28. All on Chavis.

1-3

In games where the Defense had to get a stop at the end to win or the defense actually mattered, under Chavis LSU was 6-12.

.333 winning percentage.

If Steele and Orgeron can't do better than come through 1/3 of the time when it matters, then they will be worse than Chavis. The bar is pretty low.

LSU actually did not WIN that many low scoring games under Chavis. 4-5 overall in games where both teams scored 20 or less points.

And, LSU lost 7 games where they a scored over 20 points during Chavis' tenure.

Is this the new position we're taking? That LSU's problems have been with the defense?

It isn't a new position. Go back and look at his whole tenure game by game. He was only responsible for one Texas A&M win.

The offense has actually not been as bad as we think. We win most games by a pretty wide margin and the wins that were close often had the opposing team scoring at the end and us scrambling to hold on.

The games where LSU didn't score a lot often had us with the lead at the end and then blowing it on a last drive that our Defense gave up.

The defense has been good, but when it mattered at the end of games, it faltered 2/3 of the time. Why couldn't we finish?

I'm not saying the coach O and Steele isn't an upgrade, but our offense didn't do us any favors the last 6 years. Well besides 2013

Giving the defense credit for one win in 2011? They were the reason that team was so dominant.

Not defending Chief on most of this, but this one is definitely not his fault. The defense was on the field for 100 plays. 100 damn plays let that sink in for a minute. The LSU offense gained a total of 99 fricking yards, yeah this one was on the offense.

Look, people keep saying that LSU will be so much worse without Chavis. I am just pointing out fact. For as good as he was, he lost a good number of games at the end that skews things. Maybe Steele/Orgeron will be worse? But, it isn't like we won all of these games just because of the defense.

As he did everyone else..

WTF????? That's on Miles.... His playcalling was mediocre at best.....

A bowl game in which half the defense was going pro after and were not gonna risk anything is hardly Chavis fault...

Aagain I blame Miles for not having his team ready to play a depleted Ole Miss team.. Again Mett had a bad game and you blame it on Chavis????

You blame chavis for kicking the ball out of bounds????

99 yards the WHOLE game?

Why was the defense on the field that long? They couldn't get 3rd down stops.

I blame Chavis for not getting stops at the end of games. Yes. That is his job.

If you are going to blame Miles for everything, why give a pass to the DC who rarely came through with a stop when it mattered?

Again it was a bowl game in which a ton of defensive players were getting ready for the draft... You really think they were gonna go ALL-OUT???? They didn't.... If you wanna blame Chavis, go ahead... Just shows how unimformed you are...

His defense, since 2011, lost most of our games. Fact.

2014: Alabama, MSU, Auburn and Notre Dame is on him.
2013: Georgia, Ole Miss and Alabama is on him.
2012: Alabama and Clemson is on him.

9 of the 11 losses since 2011 are on Chavis: either our D was blown out or he called soft defenses late to lose games on the final possession.

This is stupid. He is the coach. You are saying the players didn't care? It is his job to make them care.
