A lot of people wasted a lot of money and time getting to the game/tailgating/etc.

Understood. though that was no effect on me as I drive in from Lafayette, but guys that sit next to us drive in from Memphis each week. Pretty long arse drive to come in to not have the game played. It sucked, but they didn't whine about it...just moved on.

As do I. If I had to wager, the only thing it'll really effect will be play this weekend as the guys missed an opportunity to work together and get some kinks worked out. As for bigger things further down the road, I honestly doubt not curbstomping an FCS school is going to hurt the Tigers in any way with pollsters or voters. I mean...weirder shite has happened, but I wouldn't bet money on it being any real factor.

The Public Relations Nightmare would have had the fans and players in a stadium with frequent cloud to ground lightning. A strike hits and injures several people or players.

Lightning can hit the ground up to 15 miles from a parent cumulonimbus cloud. Lightning can occur when the cloud grows past the 25k foot level. Sometimes, thunderstorms can develop within minutes if the first cells being displayed on radar.

Alleva presses on and the game resumes. Someone gets killed due to a lightning strike. How does that reflect on LSU ? How about Alleva sitting on the stand in a courtroom explaining why the game HAD to be played. Imagine a parent of an all American recruit telling their son that she is worried about the safety of her son going to play at LSU. Alleva gets fired and the coaches are blamed too. People die but the game was too important . It had to be played. LSU would suffer a backlash of media coverage.

I love the boneheads equating moving the start time and/or day of a college football game on the fly with moving a college baseball game ..

No shite.

I've been an LSU fan for a long, long time, and with apologies to H.L. Mencken, "Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the LSU fanbase."

This....start the game a few hours earlier if you know inclement weather is coming. It's not fking brain surgery.

1. The storm was late developing
2. TV prevents moving start timers around
3. Brain surgery........consider it

i am not debating either way fwiw, but i still find getting the game in at all cost more important.

TV didn't get a game because of it any ways

How can people be so short sighted? There's more that goes into a football game than 2 teams on the field and you showing up with a ticket. The logistics are just not possible to restart the game the next day. Get over it. Move on with your life.

3,500 game day personnel would have to be re-mobilized for Sunday .. It takes that many people to put on a football game at LSU ..

Yep...I love the foolish commentary on this.

"Well, golly, they sure can move baseball games around purty easily..."

This game does not matter. Why have a contingency plan for something that is meaningless?? Nothing good comes from playing that game Sunday.

I have to agree. Everyone's bitching about not having a contingency plan, and comparing it to baseball. You plan for risks that are reasonable; you don't plan a second run at a large-scale football game on a few hours notice.

A few things --

1. If a Sunday baseball game is postponed too long due to weather, they don't try to make it up. They just cancel it.
2. For baseball, the people working are committed for the weekend. So if you need a double-header you already had people ready to work. In football, they are committed for one day. How many of you had plans for Sunday?
3. It's a lot easier (by a mile) to clean up and get a baseball stadium ready than a 100k seat football stadium.
