How about, at a minimum, a true QB coach

I really don't think Les lets anybody go, but if the staff could be rearranged a bit to allow a proven QB coach to come in, it'd be damn helpful.

I have seen where plays Cam has drawn up are great IF the QB executes.

I haven't given up on BH either. He needs guidance.

A true quarterback coach? So Cam fricking Cameron isn't good enough with quarterbacks? Who do you suggest we get? Is Norm Chow available? Who coaches the Packers' qbs? We need a good player, not a coach.

first of all, we had a qb and wr coach recently (I forget the guy's name, but he came from UF)

and, later, cam was touted to be a qb developer

....the talk about hiring a new OC or QB coach is exhausting. It's already been done...several times. There have also been different players, which is why none of this is harris' fault. The one constant in the equation is CLM. I'm NOT saying you fire the guy averaging 10 wins per year. But let's be honest for a second and use some common sense.

We have no QB period. I thought Harris would be a lot better but instead he has gotten worse. Franks has gone to Fla. so who will play qb this coming year?

Honestly, (it doesn't show) but Cam is thought to be one of the best QB coaches in the game today.

The offense just isn't QB friendly.

Yes, Norm Chow is very available. He was head coach and just fired 4 weeks by the University of Hawaii the day after getting destroyed by Air Force at home.

He's basically the only guy with a resume with quarterbacks that is available better than Cam.

The play calling may be bad and predictive, but there are still open receivers that BH misses. Whether it is development or coaching or a confidence thing the BH we saw Saturday is not the same guy against Florida early in the year. He missed open receivers. The player has to get some of the blame.

So, our OC is a great QB coach but his offense isn't QB-friendly. Sounds about right. Certainly jives with the product on the field.

He'd have to let somebody go to bring in a QB coach. The number of assistant coaches is capped, and currently all spots are filled.

Why, because he's telling the truth?

no b/c he's wrong. We've gotten really good QB recruits over the last several years...and new OCs. It's a matter of development; not the player himself

I could agree if it were just timing routes.
How friendly does it have to be to hit curls and hitches?

I seriously hope Miles isn't bending to outside pressure as I don't see any marked pass improvement over 2014.
I normally trust staff evaluation, but in hindsight it might have been better to further develop Jennings (and Harris), than keep this 1st year starter merry-go-round going.

There's Ertling/Mcmillan chatter starting already.

If we bring anybody in then somebody on the staff has to go. Max # of coaches already. I like what some have suggested. Fire the TE coach, bring in a QB coach with no other responsibilities.

So, we've gotten good recruits and new OCs - no improvement. What is the real issue, then? Where do the shortcomings lie?

you're talking about Billy Gonzales, and he was only WR coach. I think he had "passing game coordinator" in his title, but he was never the QB coach. Crowton was.

Kragthorpe was a dedicated QB coach the couple years he was actually on staff (and after his diagnosis).

like I've already stated, I'm not saying that Miles needs to be canned today...but to your point, there is but one constant over the last several years, and it isn't the QB and it isn't the OC

you're exactly correct. However, one would assume, I think, that a passing game coordinator would take the role of getting the QB and receivers in a rhythm. I'll never claim to be an x's and o's guy (hence I never comment on playcalling), but overall mediocrity is overall mediocrity
