No. "Real" football analysis is when you break down specifics such as scheme, counter plays, gap responsibility etc.... you're just speaking from a normal ad hoc point of view in generalities. A little presumptuous of you.

Well tomorrow when I get the time I will. Might be a little presumptuous of me, but when I do 9/10 people will have absolutely no clue when I start talking about the A, B, C, etc gap, schematically how Chief shifted the defense to the right to support the Will because Wisconsin was killing LSU on the weak side, or play breakdown and statistically why they called the plays they did. So I speak in layman's terms.

I think the MLB looked better in the second half. In the first half they(welter) were out of position A LOT. They were taking themselves out of the play A LOT. The second half, after that long run, the MLB's looked considerably better. The entire team looked considerably better. I am proud of the heart they showed. Good half time adjustments , good coaching, and good effort by all. In the second half.

You have made some very good points. I like what you said about CLM and CC adjusting at halftime. And the props you gave Chief for having always done that when needed. Shows some maturing and trust among our coaches, which I hope will continue to be a pattern. Plus the team responded and rose to the occasion. You also gave props to WI, which was well-deserved. They are a damn good team. LSU met a big challenge last night and overcame. Thanks for the balanced perspective/reality check.

Nice post, and I have no idea why posters are disagreeing with you on the TE's. That was a perfect hit on Dickson, and Smith just didn't make the catch, it happens. TE's will be fine.

It was a perfect hit. You fumble. Jesus it happens. And you do miss balls. OBJ and JL in 2012 dropped balls. UF? Dropped balls. Way of the world.

Glad someone agrees with me on the TEs. The most impressive thing to me was the fact that while they weren't necessarily being "utilized" in the passing game, their affect was greater than most realize. They were used to get the safety to bite or freeze the linebacker freeing up the WRs to get one on coverage.

Smith was wide open, that would have been a nice gain. He'll catch it next time.

Did you clear your opinion with CLM before spewing it?

Nope. I just like to flaunt my first amendment right in front of you. CLM was too busy celebrating with his team. I'll make sure to get with him next time.

1. AJ will be the quarterback this year

Agree, but we'll see Harris, too. He took a couple of steps forward last night. And, he deserves credit. But, he is going to be a liability at times this year. And, he's going to struggle against good teams.

The thing I found the most encouraging was how well he got the ball out of his hands on some of the intermediate routes. He showed anticipation and threw on time. Then, when it broke down, he made plays downfield.

2. LSU's secondary is legit. End of discussion

Totally agree.

quote:

3. Offensive line is good, but not as magnificent as thought to be

The OL was poor last night. Poor. The good news is that I think they will improve. And, they still could become a dominant group. They better, because if they don't we easily lose 4 games.

quote:

4. DL will be a major test

The DL was dominated. People love to point to the DTs but our DEs were huge problems in the running game last year...and it doesn't look like they have improved. There are teams on our schedule that are going to take advantage more than Wisconsin.

quote:

5. WR's are legit.

Too soon. They are young. And, you can see the talent. But, I'm not ready to say this group won't be a liability this year.

Don't discount the TE play.

agree

7. Linebackers are fast but will essentially be a crutch for the DL till the line strengthens up

I agree. Our linebackers are good. It just may be hard to see.

quote:

8. RB. I know LF looked subpar, but it really isn't so

I'm not worried about our RBs. If our OL gels, our RBs will be the strength of the team. I'm definitely not worried about Fournette. On his few carries, you could see the burst. He and Hilliard are going to be good.

9. Coaching

Both coordinators had to change on the fly. Both were able to find and exploit weaknesses. Both had significant weaknesses on their units. People are going to complain, but what we saw last night was an example of excellent coaching, IMO.

Nice post BTW.

My opinion versus yours, in your order.

1. AJ will be te qb bc he can handle it. BH could not and looked like a freshman when in. Sorry for all the BH lovers, AJ will be leading this team. Not BH time yet. That was very clear.

2. I agree

3. O line is ok at best. Injuries to Wisconsin clearly had an effect and we took advantage. Remains to be seen if they can be better.

4. D line worries me more than o line. They turned it up second half bc the DBS were shutting things down. Early on they couldn't do much.

5. Dural is beast, end of story. Diarse did great after the catch as well. Quinn looked ok, great effort but ran to the defense on a couple routes. He will come around. We have the tools, all based on qb play(obvious is obvious)

6. Not only did the tes drop balls, Dickson fumbled. If you can't contribute with catches, then you def can not turn the ball over when you do. Poor night. Position did not look good.

7. Agree

8. Disagree. LF played limited time yes, but wasn't flashy IMO. Not worried, but not as you said. Hilliard will be leading this team on the ground. McGee has clearly lost his step and burst. Hard to say as a former McGee fan over Hilliard. TM did not looked strong at all

9. Offensive play calling was bad first half. Second half was better, however we knew we would just run up the gut after injuries. Passing plays looked good, but nothing short to get things started. Dropped passes hurt us yes but could have been better.

Game was between a Solid C. Only because we came back to win. Many many things we need to improve on. Les is getting caught up in having a rotation of guys IMHO. Unfortunately this will not change. Many games to watch of this manner.

Like both Q 's but to make a judgement on that after seeing 1 series of BH is stupid.

Dude can ball, we will see him shine during the season and you can quote me on that.

My analysis: first half line play was terrible on both sides of the ball. The lines stepped up in the second half. Also we have real weaknesses in the middle of the field on defense. If those get fixed, we'll be pretty good. If they don't get fixed, it's going to be a long SEC season.

Kwon looked amazing out there. I hadn't realize that he switched numbers, and kept wondering who number 4 was. He had some great tackles.

Hate to go all laymen on you, but you might want to check where the 1st Amend does - and does not - apply.

If you were in the Army, even a laymen would think you would know this.

Maybe too soon, but Bama, Ole Miss, TAMU, USCe, Arkansas gave up at least 260 yards through the air, and that was against teams with at least a pulse. I mean even Mizzu gave up 250 to South Dakota State.

We have fast WRs, we have tough WRs, and we have WRs with height. That does not even add in Dupre, Chark, Peterson, Leslie, or Spears. Dural is a beast and possible 1000 yard WR

Because of the number of routes we run, because of the level of our route runners, our WRs can get open in these terrible secondaries. As long as Jennings is on point, as long as we limit the drops, the WRs could be a real strength, instead of the perceived liability they were before the season.

we had too much over pursuit on defense.

the oline looked a bit lost assignment wise at times, new blocking scheme.

the speed option and screen passes really need some work.

staying composed after wiscy went up 24-7 says a lot about this team.

im not sure why wiscy semi abandoned the run, but i think we're lucky they did.

all in all, we looked sloppy as hell.

that being said, these are all things that can be easily corrected and some were in the second half.

we dodged a bullet last night. the upside is we got the first game jitters out of the way and have a very good idea of what our strengths and weaknesses are and we have a couple of scrimmage games to clean things up.

I did. Saw Richard and played with TJ.

Eh. Speech/Internet forum.. Where do draw the line? The first amendment covers a mass amount of freedoms. He asked if I checked with CLM before I just spewed out my opinion. I said no. I just spewed it. First amendment. Freedom of speech. Does apply to Internet forums. The EFF is very big on that. WSIS. And the overturning of the CDA back in the late 90s had a long way to go with that.

Really don't feel like doing this.. That 70's song by War keeps popping up in my head. Why can't we be friends?

Anyway.
