Yet, if LSU was to start losing people would complain and tailgating numbers would drop. Go figure.

Honestly, I don't understand those folks, but i really don't understand why, year after year, some hand ringing, bed-wetting pansies keep bitching about it as though it might actually change when folks leave the game!

Suggestion, just like the J.J. vs J.L. crap.........

LET IT GO!!!

8 Saturdays at out 365 days a year are reserved for LSU football. That's such a blip of the year that it barely registers. When I'm in the stadium, I'm staying the whole damn game. Regardless of opponent, score, or if they're having the biggest parties of all time outside. I love tailgating, but when it's game time, it's game time. Nothing else is more important to me and I'll never understand the mindset of others that it isn't I got for LSU football, tailgating is just pre game fun.

More power to you, but you're one of a dying breed of die hards remaining from the LSUAD purge of long time fanatics being forced out because of finances. Damn shame to see the loss of so many LSU FOOTBALL fans, replaced by LSU PARTY fans with that arrogant "It's my money, my ticket and I'll do whatever the frick I want and if you don't like it you can kiss my arse" attitude.

Well, in the days of old the reason people used to stay longer is games were more competitive IMO. How many LSU home games are actually competitive the past 10 years? Usually three right off the bat are rent a wins, and most folks are not staying til the end for them. There are usually only 2-3 home games that are competitive in the 4th quarter these days.

I have no bitch with the argument " I pay for my ticket, I can leave whenever the hell I want". But it's a myth now that LSU has some of the greatest football fans in the sport & that TS is the most intimidating stadium in the country. Just ask the numerous high school recruits who were at the game this wk how impressed they were. And this has been going on for more than a few yrs now, it's only getting worse. An LSU officialw as heard commenting in the pressbox at the end of the first quarter: "actual attendance is only 69,000". Use any of the excuses or reasons you want, but for the home opener for a team with such high expectations & last season's success, that sucks.

You have to think of all the women too. Most of them don't give a frick about football.

Tailgate parties are the "in" thing; the popular place to be seen for many. Hardcore fans remember the purpose for being there no matter how much jambalaya they're cooking or alcohol they are consuming.

And this is a new thing.

I don't understand when some fans cry for night games
only to leave them early.

Its totally different from 10 yrs ago. My brother and I went
to the first game of the year in 2003 vs ulm and it stormed
in the first quarter so hard that there was a delay. Most of
the fans stayed in the stadium and cheered until the game
started up again. The stadium was full until the end of the
game. The fans seemed more passionate then.

Tiger Stadium crowd started a downward spiral when all the tradition funds were added. I have been in the same seats since 2000. I knew and recognized all the surrounding fans up until around 2004. It would be one thing if the new fans around me were the same for every game. We have a new set of people sitting around us every game now.

A non-trivial portion of our fanbase consists of portly sluggards who don't even have the de minimus discipline and energy necessary to stay in a stadium for a full game and cheer on the team they supposedly love.

People can do as they please. That's their right. But I can be disgusted by the apathy and laziness. That's my right.

I agree, the "quality" of fans has changed markedly over the past 10 yrs or so. I have had a chance to sit on the 50 yard line several times, and each time I was surrounded by the younger generation, kids of long time season ticket holders who could care less bout the game itself. And then there are 1000's of old time, loyal football fans who have been forced out of their long time held seats because of the cost of tickets. The party crowd now dominates in many sections of the stadium now, but there is no going back to the days of a packed TS all game/season long. Traffic & heat issues have always been there; now either/or both are reasons to leave early for the casual fan.

Of course the tailgate is more important than the game. LSU is adding suites and club seats, where the vast majority of people in those areas are concerned with being seen and glad-handing. I have sat in both sections and for a true fan it is awful, especially in a suite. Nobody cheers or pays attention to the game.

People leave early because of the piped in music

"in a blowout against a terrible team, yes people are going to leave early"

I would agree with you, but this is the first game of the season and the stadium looked so bare. You stay until the game is over. That is what you are supposed to do.
