The Daily Reveille is the biggest embarrassment to LSU there is (apart from 1/9/12 and campus student life). Every article sucks. Sports, politics, opinion articles, you name it. The sports articles never say anything worth reading and politically the articles unapologetically run one step to the right of Lenin.

I will never forget the way they structured their interview questions in an attempt to paint Alfred Blue as someone who hated homosexuals... and the fact that it actually made national media.

Anyone and everyone knows Jennings is the starter, Miles just thinks he's creating more competition by not naming a starter until the 11th hour.

I disagree...I think that Harris will get the start vs. McNeese...and CM will see how he performs...if all goes well, so be it...if he doesn't, AJ will get his chance to lead the team...it's now up to each of these guys to show/not talk what they can now do...bs won't cut it in SEC!

I hated that bullshite. This is what has become of journalism. Assholes trying to make a story where there is none. Sensationalist nonsense that lemmings believe 100%. Social media has ruined as much as it has created for the generation.

Yeah how dare LSU have a student newspaper to train future writers with liberal bias. That's what school is all about these days.

Only real question is whether the boo birds light off the moment Jennings takes the field or if they wait for him to frick up...

Yep. They get no clicks from a ho-hum article. Stir up shite/twist words as much as possible to generate clicks.

See also Jacques Doucet describing Jordan Jefferson attacking a marine in the bar. Never mind the douche "victim" was just another drunk teenager...not dressed out in his fatigues.

Wow! How did you come to this conclusion? From everything I have read on here recently, Harris is said to be leading in the QB competition. Do you know something that has eluded everyone else?

I won't read anything from the Reveille. The school's own newspaper tried to start a political correctness smear campaign against it's own football team. (Asking Alfred Blue his thoughts on gay football players)I would rather learn Morse code and get LSU sports info that way than to read the Reveille.

Why is it so important to name a starter now?

It may or may not be important. It's up to interpretation.

Some will say, like Miles, not naming a starter until the week or day before the first game will create the most competition among the QBs. Definitely possible. It certainly could be beneficial for overall QB competition to have it go as long as possible. HOWEVER;

Some will say, in contrary to Miles, if you have a pretty clear cut #1 QB a few weeks before the first game, there's no reason to not name them starter. Have the competition be over and have your starter take the grand majority of the snaps in practice to prepare him for the first game the best. Also definitely possible. Naming a starting QB who certainly looks to be the man earlier on means he likely gets prepared more for the first game.

It's 2 schools of thought.

You realize you don't have to name a starter in order to give him the majority of first-team reps...?

It isn't any secret Harris is still splitting quite a few snaps with Jennings, and Miles makes sure to mention that.

Right now it seems like Harris is getting about 50% of reps to Jennings' ~30-35% then the leftover reps are primarily for McMillian. If Harris was named starting QB though there's no reason for him to take less than about 70-75% of snaps. More practice means better preparation.

A&M just named their starting QB today, gives him 2 full weeks of game prep. Sure would be nice for Harris to have that, since he's the clear cut starter.

Hasn't there also been plenty of mention of Harris running with the 1s, and Jennings either running with the 2s, or standing around with his helmet in his hand?

Again, you don't need an official pronouncement to get the reps of a starter.. we probably won't see an "official" starter named until Sept. 12

Yes, but there's a difference in taking a SLIGHT majority of snaps vs. a LARGE majority of snaps is my point. Taking 50% of snaps isn't going to prepare you as well as taking 75% snaps will. Would you not agree?

There's absolutely a difference in fostering a QB competition with more split snaps vs. having a defined starters and him taking the grand majority of snaps in preparation for games.

I totally get having a competition, but it certainly feels like Miles will be Miles and despite clearly having a starting QB he will "foster more competition" but not naming one until the last minute.
