On 104.5 both Hester and Hannigriff noted that they’re not sure if LSU will have a spring game session but that it’s very important for LSU’s new OC and DC coaches to have a spring session with Hannigriff adding it’s important because “we’re going to have a really scary QB battle” with 3 QB’s.

I don't see anybody beating out Max Johnson.
Can throw accurately, and move enough in the pocket to keep plays alive.
I'm riding for Max in 2021.
Especially with an improved running game.
Watch the last 2 games.

Brennan is the guy unless he loses it. Max a capable #2 and I think Finley might transfer with Nuss coming in.

Nussmeier is the real dark horse.

But yeah I’m cool with an open competition for the job.

Myles did look better vs vandy, who had a d just as bad as us, and mizzou. He was 1-2 though which is a bad look and he was horrible vs state.

Max looked great in his starts.

TJ showed flashes but he is still a project for sure.

I don't think Myles should just be crowned, if you put him in a even battle with Max and he wins so be it.

Myles makes better throws downfield, Max fits the offense better. Up to the coaches to pick which one works best. Having the QB run in the bag is invaluable.

It's laughable how people think Brenan will have to battle to be the starting QB next year. If he is healthy, he is the starter. There may be a battle for the backup position, but that's about it.

I remember when after Finley's first start, everyone said he was going to take over at QB when Brenan returned. Now Johnson plays 2 games and he is crowned the starter. Jeez man, do any of y'all actually understand football.

They're already assuming Finley's going to transfer I take it. Probably a good bet but just wondering if they've heard anything

Myles has started a total of 3 games, lets not act like he is some seasoned qb that went down with an injury.

He doesn't have many meaningful snaps under his belt, in fact TJ Finley has more meaningful snaps than him.

Myles looked great vs Vandy and he looked great at times vs mizzou despite 3rd down struggles, which we can give him a pass since the kid was playing with a season ending injury.

Myles has a great arm, he was getting better at pocket awareness but he is a statue in the pocket.

Max fits what we want of our O better and adds a threat. I'm not saying it isn't Myles job but he beat out two kids with no starts last year, this year both have starts and showed talent. I don't think we should just hand him the job as a right of passage.

If you look at completion percentage, accuracy is a wash.

Myles Brennan: 60.3
Max Johnson: 58.7
TJ Finley: 57.1

If anything I'd say Brennan is easily the most accurate QB because he has the highest completion percentage and threw downfield more often.

no, that performance wasn’t going to win a Heisman, but that wasn’t horrible by any stretch.

hell, as recently as 2018 we would have killed for a QB to be that “horrible”

I agree with you. He has the intangibles. It’s just hard for me to turn the reigns over in a heavy passing offense to someone who throws a bad deep.

All of our QB’s need work on mechanics, especially footwork. They need to go to the coach that Burrow and Tom Brady went to.

Brennan was a national leader in passing then he was injured.
Scary what he can accomplish once he gains confidence.

Myles needs to improve pocket awareness / mobility, while Max needs to improve general accuracy and downfield throwing. Myles is 21 and Max is 19, but neither has substantial in-game playing experience. Whoever improves the most before Fall camp gets the job.

People already forgot how much Joe Burrow's mobility impacted the 2019 offense. He wasn't a run first QB but if you gave it to him he'd pick up 10 yards with ease. Myles Brennan has cinder blocks for feet.

The 5 wide empty QB draw scored some key touchdowns in the regular and postseason.

Best case scenario for LSU is Myles wins the job and Max is the backup. They put in some packages for Max and let him play every game.

Myles balls out and goes pro and Max has three years left. Nuss Redshirts and puts two years between him and Max.
