Unless there's a "national voice"... and I hope there is..Hanagriff is my pick.
He always sounds like he's about to fall asleep.
I'm just hoping I never have to hear "sacker" again... 1st sacker, 2nd sacker, 3rd sacker. I hate that shite.

Rollins is most qualified. I think Wright has the better voice and a better PBP style but I have little experience listening to him.
Rollins does a solid job with football where he seems to tone down the down home style.

Sean Kelly
He is by far the best candidate.

If Adam Amin is a semifinalist, then him. I could see why he'd want it. Good job security, great pay, chance to be the big fish in a smaller pond, more family time, etc. Amin would be a great pick.
Among the locals, Sean Kelley best choice. Netherton 2nd. Rollins and Hanagrif are good, but not sure they translate well to basketball.
Of course, there could be a finalist we don't know whose a home run pick and this is all just formality.

I am beginning to think that Hawthorne should be given a raise and a contract extension if it comes down to Hannagriff or Len Rollins.
But...if you offer a position nationally and only receive 120 applications for the job, then I guess someone in that 120 has to be selected. The quality doesn't seem to be there . Someone will get elected through default.

Of the candidates we know about, this is BY FAR the case.

Couldn't say for a fact if he does fall asleep, because I'm usually put to sleep when listening to him myself. Very knowledgable, but about as much enthusiasm and excitement as nothing, and THAT is the most essential ingredient in replacing a guy like Hawthorne.
ENTHEOS... Without it you lose your audience

Nobody said he was a semifinalist. I can bet you that he isn't.
You people have no concept of this. Amin is on a fast track to becoming one of ESPN's top play-by-play guys. The last thing on the mind of a TV guy with his current stature is going backwards and becoming a radio guy.

NO WAY this guy gets this job. Wright, Hanagriff, and Rollins would all get it over him.

Did any of you listen to the clips I posted earlier in the thread that had samples of each person's work? Middle of page 7. It isn't all as horrible as you make it out to be.

What you expect Michael to say, "we gonna select someone and yall are going to absolutely hate him".

Hanagriff has no business getting this job. Would be the worst out of all candidates

This is just an awful opinion. Netherton and Rollins are so so much worse than hanagriff.

I've listened to Hanagriff for a very long time, and I respect the hell out of him for his knowledge. He just doesn't make games very exciting as I think he lacks enthusiasm necessary to keep people in the game like they were there. It's the most critical element of that kind of job. You have to keep people enthused.
Hawthorne wasn't the most polished or accurate guy, but what he lacked in his ocassional flubs here and there, he more than made up for in his enthusiasm, and that's what fuels this. You can be spot on perfect in your assessments, but if you lack enthusiasm in keeping people on the edge of their seats and into the game you've already lost the audience.

He could say nothing at all.
Or he can play Les Miles and say "the competition is fierce, and we may not know who that guy is until we know who he is."

Word on the street is that the guy is a pompous arse. I don't think he is the homerun hire that everyone thinks he is. I listened to some of the NBA audio clips from above. Sounds like he overdoes it a bit. I am not saying he is bad but to say he is "by far the best candidate" is overstating it.
