I'm happy to see our gymnastics team being well supported but please don't attempt to compare the two sports.

One weekend is hardly a sufficient comparison especially considering baseball opened during the final Mardi Gras weekend and won't be playing in conference for another month.

Please compete with other teams and NOT within our own programs.

Gymnastics actually has 5000+ show up over game? That is impressive. Or are you talking bout paid attendance

Yes, average actual attendance is over 5,600.

Five meets during the 2014 season rank in the Top 10 in LSU’s all-time attendance list. The Tigers’ meet against Alabama on Jan. 31 is the No. 2 most attended home meet in school history as 8,055 fans watched LSU beat the Crimson Tide, 197.650-196.825.

LSU baseball breaks that every Friday night.

I just really don't understand what his point is. Is this a troll? Is he trying to say Gymnastics deserves more funding than baseball? Is he trying to say gymnastics fans are better than baseball fans? I don't get it.

LSU averaged 5,404 fans per game

pretty sure we averaged more than 5400 in baseball last year... Like double

Might want to rethink this also

As season starts, LSU hopes to reverse trend of fewer spectators in the stands

By 5 p.m. Friday, a line of purple-and-gold clad fans will stretch from the gates of LSU’s Alex Box Stadium and weave through a parking lot full of gumbo-cooking and beer-drinking tailgaters.

Gates will open, and fans will pour into one of the nation’s most plush college baseball parks.

They will buy thousands of game-day programs, consume hundreds of hotdogs and roar their approval when the season’s first rendition of “Calling Baton Rouge” blares from the speakers.

It might just be the best atmosphere and biggest crowd for any college baseball season opener in the nation.

But it won’t be full.

LSU’s season-opening game against Kansas on Friday night is a sellout. In fact, most of the Tigers’ 15 home Southeastern Conference games have just standing-room-only tickets remaining, and the school has led the nation — by a wide margin — in ticket sales for 19 consecutive years.

The problem: Getting these ticket-purchasing fans — predominantly the 9,000-plus season ticket-holders — into seats.

LSU averaged 5,404 fans per game during the regular season last year, according to a compilation of actual attendance figures. That’s the lowest in the six seasons Alex Box Stadium has been open

What was this attendance last Friday?

Kansas isn't in our conference, by the way.

people have said other wise. I think the article i getting actual confused with paid. The NCAA reports paid attendance it does this for every sport. It doesn't report actual attendance at-least in it's rankings.

but I don't see the point of arguing this.

I was going to put this dude in his place, but as a self respecting boxtard I just can't stand the thought of lowering myself to the level of a gymnastics fan. Let me know when the next baseball vs. basketball thread pops up.

Of course it is.... And look at all the but hurt baseball die hards that took it hook, line, and sinker.

I am an LSU baseball fan, and i routinely got to games, But it is hilarious how bent out of shape people, on this board, get when you say one thing you dont like about LSU baseball.

Yes. You laugh. But this whole thing started about the Advocate gymnastics article on the 9th page while baseball opening day on the 1st page. So if you arguing fan support about the Advocate article, it is only fitting to use opening day.

to add to my point further. In Every box score in baseball it is reported paid attendance not actual.

In Gymnastics the results pages only shows attendance it doesn't say if it is actual or paid. It is likely Paid.

But again what is your point?

Plus Dynamics has fewer meets than baseball. LSU plays 4 games a week, sometimes on a cold rainy weekday. On weekends LSU baseball has higher attendance than Gymnastics on average. Weekday games bring down baseball's attendance rankings.
