Walter the Great

After watching Guice's angry, relentless, erratic twist and turns. Sweetness came to mind.

Guice runs with a certain reckless abandon. Maybe not Walter Payton but I see the similar running style.

Great comparison. Hopefully he can have a great career like Sweetness.

Marion Barber is more like it

I definitely agree with the Walter Payton comparison but I love how Guice and Barber seek out contact. Normally a spectator to tigerdroppings but I gotta put my 2 cents in because I love Guice and think he's going to be a monster barring injury.

I like the "Barbarian" comparison, but I see more Payton in Guice, even their cuts and shuffles seem similar to me. I do think they all have some similar qualities. Payton's game was all contact he refused to run out of bounds on any play. He always looked for contact, I guess in essence barber was a poor man's Payton.

He runs angry and relentless because if he doesn't Fournette will take 99.9% of the carries instead of 99.8% of them.

You boys need to pump the brakes a little on this one He's good, no question but when folks get to Barry and Walter it's going too far for now, way too far

No one is saying he's as good as either back. That would be outrageous. They're just comparing running styles. Maybe you're the one who should pump the brakes

The better comparison is to Barry Sanders, (or his Oklahoma State team mate, Thurman Thomas). Barry Sanders had the cuts, twists, speed and toughness that Guice has, so that is probably the best comparison.

Barry Sanders Highlights

Thurman Thomas Highlights

Barber is a good call.

I also see a lot of Cadillac Williams in him.

Guice will definitely be a special back before he is done at LSU. Right now, though Guice has great instincts, he lacks patience allowing his blocks to develop...this will come in time...LF started his freshman season slow for the same reason. As the college game slows down in his mind, Guice's natural abilities will take over and we can begin the comparison game

I see what your saying. Wasn't thinking Walter Payton until I watched that video and remembered the style. They both run like crazy wild beasts. Tasmanian devils. I'm not one for forced nicknames, it has to come from his teammates, like honey badger did, but that's pretty descriptive and keeps coming up on here at least.

I always think of Ray Rice when I see him run. Maybe that has more to do with my beer blood level than reality when I'm watching though.

Yeah, he looked just like that on both of those yards he gained against Florida.

There's a guy in more recent history to look at. Go watch some of Reggie Bush's freshman or high school highlights.

Bush started as a chaotic back and then by the time he was done at USC became way more focused and his cuts much cleaner without all of the wasted movement and jukes.
