We don't need him returning 7 kick offs in a shoot out type of game.

Why would you turn your nose up at 7 touchdowns?

You do realize that if LF ever returns 7 kick offs in a game or any other player for that matter it means the opposition has scored at least 6 times and since no one in the history of football has come remotely close to bringing back 7 KO's for TD in a game this is not a positive sign.

Even 5 returns a game which isn't out of the question might be enough to make him give up some reps on offense

I'd like to see him get the max amount of reps on offense in the most competitive games to give the offense the best chance to win

I didn't think this was necessary, but apparently, it was.

Why would you put your franchise player in that position...the team and LF is much better served with him playing just rb...you have other players that are better suited for that position...that would be one of the dumbest things LM can do

Gurley handled KO's pretty well for UGA and carried the ball more than LF ever will at LSU. Put your best players at each position...period.

Gurley had a total of 11 kickoff returns in his career and a total of 510 carries in his career.

Fournette had 24 kickoff returns last year. He also had 187 carries. If Fournette has the same amount of carries the next two years, he's on pace for 561 in his three years here. That would already be more than Gurley and there's no doubt his amount of touches this year will go up. So I would say your math is a little off.

You don't keep your best player at a spot where he can get hurt so easily. Should Fournette get a couple of returns in big spots? definitely. But when we have guys like Jackson/Guice/Brosette, they should handle the majority of the returns.

Id prefer we put Guice or Dante back there permenantly instead of Fournette.

It would be nice to have fournette fresh for the first play from scrimmage.

having him fresh is no big deal. In fact, he's probably more warmed up for first play from scrimmage if he returned a kickoff. My major concern is the risk of injury to our star player.

For someone to return 7 kicks in a game either means the Defense gave up 10-15 scores or the other team has a kicker with zero leg. LSU had 26 returns the entire season last year, or 2/game. LF had 5 against Wisconsin last year and then 1 or 2 per game the rest of the season. I don't think it's a big deal having him back there either way.

People worried about this Peterson & Mathieu. So instead of putting playmakers on the field. You want to keep them on the sideline. Airtight logic.

I admit I'm nervous as well, but you can't promise the number # 1 recruit in the nation that he can return kicks and then go back on your word after he signs his LOI. LF & The coaches Came to an understanding before his commitment, according to Les.
