Great Herbstreit quote on Burrow

Good write up on SDS in general, but this made me laugh:
“ I’ve never seen a guy with this killer instinct. Not just to beat you but steal your soul. He wants to ruin everything about you and the defensive coordinator. He takes it so personally, that week’s battle against whomever it is. All guys are competitive. All guys want to win. But this guy is borderline arrogant, borderline, ‘Were you OK as a kid?’ A mean dude, in a good way. If he’s your quarterback, it’s great.”

Absolutely, Joe Burrow's mission was to dissect the defense of the opponent every week. He studied football like no other we have seen, while quarterbacking the perfect season. A pure scholar of the game.
And that was only part of Joe's game.
And that was only part of Joe's game.

Simply the greatest qb in the history of college football. He was only hurt in that because of his transfer.
If he plays at 1 school (OSU or LSU), he hands down would have untouchable stats.
He not only did the film work, but the ball was where it needed to be in tight spots every time.
Best ever and nothing will ever convince me otherwise.

The bengals don’t know how lucky they are

I still think he was the main reason the D had no confidence at the start of the season after tearing them up in the spring

He's definitely the guy you don't want to see lining up against your team.

Dude was a magician, doubt we see his like again.

Dear Herbie-
He was left Home Alone as a kid. Traumatizing. That’s what made him the monster he is today.

I debated on going to a lot of games.. so glad I ended up going to most of them.. especially the natty.
I’d be kicking myself if I missed seeing him play

We are living the best decades Tiger football has ever seen because of warriors like Joe and lovable clowns like Les

I said it during last season the dude is a stone cold assassin. I am thinking back through my history of watching football and I can't think of any QB at any level with so much swagger.

"Stone cold assassin": This is the same thing a bama poster said about him after the NCG: " Burrow is a stone cold killer. I'm glad he's out of the league."

I think Andrew Luck could have been a generational college QB if he didn't go to Stanford. Even there, he ran that Y2-Banana offense and beat Pete Carroll and a bunch of 5stars with his team of scrubs.
Even Andrew Luck didn't have the chip on his shoulder though to go in with so much confidence and swagger though. There hasn't been anyone like him in modern day college football who just torched so many elite defenses with ease.

studying film against a team is one thing but to have the pocket presence to be able to get out of trouble is Another. I have never seen a QB in college and only a select few in the pros be able to get out of trouble when the line collapsed and make positive plays whether it be with his arm or his legs. Go back and watch all the games from last season this guy is unreal in the pocket. We may never see another guy navigate a pocket like joe did last year

Joe Namath.

Good one but more modern, Aaron Rodgers. Not the arm strength but their skillsets are similar. Burrow is just tougher. Accuracy and movement are untouchable in today's football.

I think JB having to transfer out of OSU was the catalyst, if not just adding fuel to the fire, that put a chip on his shoulder.
Transferring from OSU and the subsequent season (losses to Bama, UF, the hit he took vs UCF) definitely shaped his mentality for the 2019 season.

What I found truly amazing was he NEVER had even an average game, let alone a BAD game!
Considering how many Elite level teams & Defenses he faced itll be damn near IMPOSSIBLE for another QB to eclipse his 2019 Season - Overall Stats, Wins vs Elite Teams & Level of Play from Game 1 thru Game 15!
Just imagine if this Pandemic BS had jumped started just a few months earlier. We definitely would have missed out in the GREATEST LSU, CFB Team, QB & Seasons ever! This will be the only saving grace should the 2020 Season be cancelled!
