A couple of face masks that weren't called on Bama, one where Jennings came off the field with it pulled off. A downing of a punt on the one where the wrong official called it a touch back. The most bogus unsportsmanlike penalty I've ever seen where clearly several Tide players could have been called but after several tries they finally got an LSU player to push them back and immediately called. I'm not a conspiracy theorist but that game was officiated so poorly and at the most critical times in Bama's favor. Pitiful display.

The call in question was typical one-sided Gumpism.
Vadal Alexander had bama players pulling on his legs; but of course the refs didn't SEE that. All they saw was Alexander trying to pull them OFF OF HIM. How is that a personal foul again ???

Oh yes, because it would help Bama. I forgot....

LSU got Rittered. 15 yard penalty near goal line and not reviewing that deep ball on third down on Bama's last drive. No catch. But whatever. Thanks for the awful memories.

Yeah even Gary Danielson said """Ohhhh, I don't knooooowwwww. That might not have been a catch! (video showed the ball moving and next to the ground) But it's too late now, the next play was run.""""
But, as another poster mentioned, Miles didn't even have time to throw the challenge flag, as the Alabama team made SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRE
that they all zoomed up to the line at Mach I to make sure to snap the ball before it was reviewed..

It was clearly spearing

I also saw LSU-Ala. replay from last year and that was clearly spearing on LF but the entire game the officials were all screwed up.

Grave mistake at the end of last year's Bama game? by TigerikRE:
quote:Yeah, it's called Ritter's officiating crew. If you watched that whole game over again as I also endured, you'll remember seeing about 5 facemask penalties on Bama that were NOT called, and the Bama players making late hits and being chippy on almost every play after the whistle had blown

Bama has AAALLLLLLLLLWAYS done this, but ESPECIALLY under Saban. They put a little extra push, shove, grind, late getting off the pile, gyrations, etc.
after EVERY tackle. Just watch them. And you can it is TAUGHT.
When 2 Alabama players literally SAT ON THE GROUND PULLING ON BOTH OF VADAL ALEXANDER'S LEGS, """""""""""A F T E R """"""""""" the tackle was made and the play over, where were the refs ?????????????????

I'll tell you where they were: when Alexander attempted to walk back to the LSU huddle, but COULDN'T because 2 Gumps were having coital relations with his legs, and he decided he'd like them to STOP their love-making. WHOOOOOOOOOO gets called ???? Not the precious GumpNeckSkoalDrool Things. No, the LSU guy.

Always.

frick Bama....

You are NOT allowed to bring facts like this to this board... When LSU losses its NEVER their fault. Its always the refs or some other crap.... LSU never gets just plain beat by the better team... According to the rant...........

The grave mistake was with almost 2 minutes left and 2 timeouts LSU should have kicked deep to Mississippi state and not onside kick.

I disagree. If you're talking about on our last TD, I don't think there were two minutes left. It was less than that. Even using two timeouts and holding them to a 3-and-out, they were able to run the clock down to 20 seconds when we got the ball back. Even with better field position (which is all we would have gained from kicking deep), that wouldn't have been much time to score a TD. Giving ourselves a chance to get the ball back via the onside kick with more time left was a much better choice, even though it didn't work out.

I am with you on the penalty, but the review not so much. Bama was hurrying to the line, both to save time and probably to prevent a review, which didn't give the replay official much time to look at it and make the call down to the field. Also, if they had stopped play there and the replay had showed the catch was good, they would be open to complaints that they were trying to help Bama by stopping the clock for a needless review and giving them time to get to the line to run the next play. Instead of stopping it without knowing whether the catch was good, they left it to LSU to either keep the clock running if we wanted to, or stop it ourselves with a timeout if we wanted the play reviewed. I think that was probably the right thing to do.

Can someone PLEEEEEASE tell me why in the frick it was first and ten for Bama after their PF, and not first and GOAL ???????

That was a rule change they made back in the 1980s. It used to be that, if you made a first down on a play, then got called for a dead ball foul after the play, the penalty added to the yards needed to make the next first down. So, on a personal foul after making a first down on the play, you would be facing 1st and 25. I guess the rules committee thought that was too harsh so they changed the rule so that it would still be 1st and 10 even though you were penalized 15 yards. It was the correct call.

And WHYYYYYYYYY was it not first and ten for LSU after the PF they called on Alexander?

Because we didn't make a first down on the play before the dead ball foul. Without the penalty, it was going to be 2nd and goal from around the 5. Since it was a dead ball foul, the down remained the same and we were penalized 15 yards. The correct call again (in that respect at least, not the substance of the call itself).

Another thing not as often mentioned about the PF on Alexander was that not only did it cost us the 15 yards, but it also stopped the clock with the play clock near 40, and the clock was restarted again on ready for play with the play clock at 25. That saved Bama about 10-15 seconds. Although now I can't remember for sure whether they went ahead and called a time out anyway, I don't think they did so they only had to let about 25 seconds run off without calling time out instead of about 40. That extra 10-15 seconds might have made a lot of difference on the final drive.
