Do yo people not realize that they load Mike into that cafe all the time? The vets just this year decided to not load him for football games.

Are you choosing to ignore Dr. Baker's and others response to this question that you keep repeating?

Is Mike outside in his habitat on game days or is he inside with the trainers who are "trying" to get him in the mobile cage?

They decide to send out a tweet at 9:30 AM that Mike will not be going to the game. You tell me how hard they are trying to load him into the cage when he wouldn't even load into the cage until about 4:30 or so for a 7:00 game anyway.

Every other "Mike" made it to the games. This Mike, according to a previous post has made it to most of the games from 2007-2012. The worst year he only made half. All of the sudden this year, he makes 0.

The vets aren't even trying.

Gotcha. I still think this has more to do with us getting a year old tiger and less to do with the trainer.

The fact that he is also way way bigger than other Mikes prob complicates it further.

Not even trying? You've got to be joking. I'm a student at the veterinary school. You do realize that the veterinarians have to work a) under a serious ethical code and b) under an incredibly strict set of laws and regulations for owning a live tiger? An ENDANGERED SPECIES, at that?

You people need to get a grip. I'm sorry that Mikes veterinary staff refuses to poke and prod him into a small cage where he can be screamed at by a hundred thousand people. If Mike doesn't feel like getting into the cage, Mike doesn't get into the cage.

I mean honestly people, what do you want them to do? How hard to you want them to try? I'm convinced you crazy arse ranters would have Mike dragged in by his tail if you could. Y'all need to stop bitching about Mike AND his staff. Dr. Baker is an incredibly hard working and gracious man, He devotes an incredible amount of time to ensure that Mike is being as well taken care of as he possibly can. Enjoy the luxury of having a live tiger on campus and stop being such a child.

If it's that important to the OP, let him lead Mike into the stadium without the trailer, gladiator-style.

This is a cat… and he weighs 500 lbs. He won't be doing anything he doesn't want to be doing.

Yeah yeah, I get all that, but can he hang out at my house next weekend? I'll pick him up and drop him off no problem.

Im not invested one way or the other really - although I always loved seeing and hearing Mike at games as a child - but your quote above doesnt pass the smell test dude. This Tiger is made to do all sorts of things that he doesnt "feel" like doing. I mean he has to be "forced" to get regular check ups, dental proceedures etc. Right?

Idiot. Those checkup an specifically dental procedures probably require some sedatives. You want a sedated Mike,in the stadium?

I attended LSU for a year from 1965 - 1966. I'm the poster child for Old School.

If Mike doesn't want to get into the cage to make a lap around Tiger Stadium so be it. In the grand scheme of things I don't think it has any effect on the outcome of the game. And I seriously think a season ticket holder is going to boycott a game because Mike isn't there.

Why don't you just let the man focus on keeping animals healthy and alive?

Ummmm......yeah.

6 pages, I thought someone would point this out, but I guess not.

Tigers don't roar. Lions roar. Tigers purr. Tigers don't fricking roar. Mike the Tiger, any of them, has never roared. Maybe LSU piped in a Lion roaring but it sure as heck wasn't Mike. Look it up, tigers don't roar. I need Tiger fans to know about our damn mascot.

Roaring cats. Lions, tigers, leopards and jaguars are the only cats that can roar. The sound is produced by a specialised larynx and flexible hyoid bone and can be used to stake territory, communicate generally or express anger.

The only reason the old mike growled was because they hit him with a cattle prod.

Mike V roared whenever the mascot would walk near him.

I've heard him roar. You don't know what you're talking about

Here's an idea - a joint engineering/vet school project to invent a crate that is comfortable for Mike and alleviates his anxiety (or whatever the issue, but you should get the point), so that Mike can attend the games, which we all know he wants to do.

In all seriousness, I think all LSU fans want what is best for Mike. Some of us were students when the money was raised to build the habitat, and even helped raise the money at games to pay for it. Mike is a big part of LSU, so just give us a better explanation for why he doesn't go to games. If we need to raise money for a badass crate to get him into the game, somebody needs to get the Student Govt. and Ambassadors on it...
