Get a 500 watt inverter (will have a low battery notification). You can run it from a car batery for a couple hours without startingthe car. Or get a deep cycle marine battery for $100. This would run a fan and tv for about 6-8 hours.

depends on generator. I have a Honda 2000 inverter. Not cheap but quiet. You could get 12 plus hours of running with just a tv. Can't remember what the tank holds but I believe it is right at a gallon.
