Has alot to do with commercial breaks and traffic is my guess... Getting drunk before game and getting tired is no excuse especially with the student section...i'm sure most are on adderal anyways.

No students should be leaving...was unheard of in my day.
And there was plenty of partying going on before and after games.

Yes people who don’t care about football certainly don’t care about LA tech, or SELA, or probably Rice. We’ve become spoiled. Never fails that Bama is full, Georgia will be full, and state will probably be full. It’s hard to keep interest of marginal football fans when they can go to Fred’s and Bogies

The Athletic Department should start a campaign starring some of the players: "All we ask is 7 nights a year". The students have 358 other nights of the year to get hammered without interruption. Goes for everyone else who leaves early, too.

The student section has started a lot of traditions that I don't agree with, but LEAVE at Half Time is easily the worst one.

No disrespect. The things that are happening in TS in terms of leaving early or not filling the stadium or less raucous crowds - these trends are not unique to LSU in 2018. It is happening to some degree on campuses all across America.

I think we notice it more acutly because LSU had such a storied tradition.

There are some changes that I suspect have aggravated our own problem.

More day games. Fewer night games. But our tradition and reputation were built on night games.

More televised games. Lots and lots of commercials slow games down

Large screen TV and broad coverage of our games across ESPN, ABC, CBS. It is so easy to give a big tailgate party at home and everybody stay in air conditioned comfort to watch the game there and party non stop.

Also. Sports bars make it pretty easy for the alcohol crowd to forget about fighting the traffic, party hearty, and watch the game on big screens without the campus game day hassle.

Home game scheduling includes too many cupcake teams and too few big attraction teams.

The Saban Bama Invincible factor.

Residue from the QB controversies and the disappointing CLM dull and decline years since 1/9/12. That really shook a lot of the fan base to the core.

Social media, like TR and the sour, endless bickering.

Just my own attempt to make some sense of what we’re all seeing.

I think we can all make sense of why people don't go, or stopped going to games.

What doesn't make any sense to me is the "leave early" crowd. There was a pretty good crowd at the start of the game on Saturday, but people just couldn't wait to get the hell out of there.

The other poster made a great point about the students. Don't they party and get drunk every night? You only get 7 saturdays to watch LSU....it just isn't special any more.

Other Reasons...
1. When LSU raised it's admission standards and low test score students were told to go other places.... it's a proven fact, low standard test score students tend to yell more and stay longer at the games.
B. Tailgating with Dish or Direct TV around campus... you can continue to eat and drink ... and still hear the crowd noise of those left in the stadium.

I am loving the reasons that students leave early...

Sorority girls getting hot at the games.

Students are smarter than they used to be.

Have to get to Fred's by 8:00.

Also I think LSU is missing that "swag" factor song tradition that involves the students and crowd....like Penn states "we are penn state" intro....South Carolinas "Sandstorm"....Auburn "swag surf".... Callin baton rouge is tradition but its mostly for the older crowd

Kind of like a pregame song that pumps people up? Yeah, we need a pregame song.

Totally agree with the OP. There are about 30 hours a YEAR in which we actually have a game going on in Tiger Stadium. I totally don’t get it why everybody leaves. It is a disgrace. I also think the student section has become lame, and their leaving indicates a lack of interest because most either live on campus or live nearby so beating the traffic is not the issue. Tiger Stadium’s legend was made going back to the 50’s and 60’s; and our fans have grown spoiled, soft and lazy.

Not necessarily pregame lol ...alot of teams do it during breaks to get the crowd involved. Wisconsin is another one that does it mid game when they play "jump around"

I guess I am alone in thinking that you go to an LSU game for the experience.

Sitting with 90,000 LSU fans...pregame...the roar when the team hit the field...the excitement of the wins...the agony of the defeats. Tiger Stadium was a special place. I guess the last couple of years for the most part the stadium has just felt common place.

If the crowd isn't into it...it is hard to get excited...the excitement was the juice for me. But maybe not everyone is built like that.

How the frick can you make a post complaining about others going to the game when you don’t even go??

You sum up the majority of people who bitch on this site.

I was a student in the late 60s. The student section started on about the 45 yard line and went to the corner. Band sat right in the middle of the student section. It rocked. Move the students back to where the empty corporate seats are next year. Tell the corporate folks they can buy seats where the students now sit.

I am really just wondering what killed Tiger Stadium, and why the students leave early.

I am not complaining about people not going...just wondering why everyone leaves early?

You have to go back a heck of a lot further than this recent era.

There was little or no TV coverage and no sitting under a tent watching it in the parking lot..If you wanted to be a part of it you went and you stayed. The fans are overcharged now and dealing with too many new rules, and so much gameday bullshite, that it's too easy to stay home.. Going to the stadium now just makes me mad. Aleva has been the ruination of the whole gameday experience. I blame this on him and hate him for destroying something awesome..
