Great running backs couldn’t help us against Bama the last 7 years. The closest we have come to winning that game is when we were able/willing to pass the ball. We have to be able to do that to beat the good teams because they will shut down the running game. CEH, Broussette and Curry are not household names but if our OL gives them space, then they will be effective enough to help us win the games. Like I said, we have to be better passing the ball or we will continue to finish below Bama and Auburn.

“Double edged sword”

Are you saying that the LSU running back talent hasn’t taken a substantial hit from what is been the last 4-5 years?

Hopefully, someone will pick up the challenge, but as it stands right now we could be in trouble at that position. imo

5 sacks (that you listed)
I’m pretty sure this is a combination of our elite pass rush and our sub par pass blocking

It’s only off by a couple hundred yards...

You are entitled to your opinion, but I don’t objectively see a deeper front 7 other than Bama in the SEC.

Auburn is just as good maybe better than Bama. MSU has several highly rated nfl prospects in their starters.

LSU fans are hoping the front 7 will win us games (me included) but there are several teams that are just as good as us if not better on the front 7.

More importantly, I hope nobody was hurt.

Yeah my thought exactly. That’s some awful running stats, we need someone to step up

I disagree. Running stats are the most useless stats. They are more of an indication of the offensive line than the RB's. When you see the running stats look like that for every RB you know the d line really showed up.

No holes means the best running backs will be crap. To judge a rb you have to see the plays and see if they got more or less than the should have each carry.

--------

I am. The know nothing's in here have shite down EVERY NFL back we have had that didn't come here a t star recruit. Addai, Blue, Ridley, and Williams to be specific, LSU message board fans (Not to be confused with LSU fans) are still dissing these backs as having no idea how these backs made it in the NFL. There are NFL rbs in the stable now, and these disrespect will never stop by the irrelevant "run and tell its", even after they are drafted.

Rushing

Yikes

But better than I feared against a good Defense. Defenses are always ahead to the Off. at this point. Brossette will end up with the most carries this year with Curry a close second.

Ding, ding, ding. It was situational, which means that in "team run" the defense KNOWS IT'S GOING TO BE RUNS. They also did 3rd down situational play call which means the defense KNOWS IT'S GOING TO BE PASSES, so they can pin their ears back and get after the qb. Also take into consideration that the defense is always ahead of the offense at the beginning of camp.

Out of all those stats, this is the only one that matters.

quote:

Cole Tracy, 3/3 field goals, 1/1 from 20-30 yards, 1/1 from 40-45 yards, 1/1 from 45+

Forgetting stats, has there been any eye-opening highlights coming from the offense? I remember seeing Guice a few years back, making our defense look bad at times. Insanity on the sidelines trying to bring dude down.

Do we have anyone doing that this year, so far?

Also- I'm a little worried about the passing game. Nobody had a good completion percentage. Yes, "defense is beasting" yada yada, but we're going to face some good D's. If we don't have a premier RB, we're going to need a consistent passer to dink and dunk 5 yd completions to move the chains.
