Fox Sports - Maurice Clarett learned the hard way. Fighting to leave college early is a losing battle for individuals. Leaving early "a battle that none of these kids have the resources for." Clarett was cut after training camp and lost a million fighting the NFL.

Clarett - "If you sit out long enough and you're not engaged, not training, not getting better -- and not from a skill level, there's an edge from your mentality that goes away -- then you can't reproduce that," he continued. "The only way to get better is to do it, to play the actual game, to lift the weights and be around it all the time."

Fox Sports - Clarett met Fournette when he visited LSU over the summer and remains in contact with the 20-year-old, but Clarett says he won't get involved in discussions about Fournette's future unless he's asked. If he is, though, Clarett said he'd advise Fournette that if players want to receive compensation for their play in college or have the freedom to play professionally when they feel they're ready, they're going to have to band together to make it happen."

Fox Sports - Clarett travels the country speaking to teams. This summer, Clarett has spoken at Texas A&M, LSU, TCU and Kentucky, with stops at UConn and Alabama last week. This week it's Florida State.

It's amazing how the media keeps pushing this, as if it's something that might be real.

I wonder what the NCAA and the schools will do if players ever do decide to that it's in their best interest to boycott. It surely will be interesting to see how a situation like this is handled.

Thank goodness LF has a great head on his shoulders and is really a team guy. He always says the right thing, and going back to his New Orleans days of giving his awards to other players, he is 100% genuine in it all.

Honestly, his story is worth listening to. He can relate to the players today and keep them from making the same mistake he made.

Somebody needs to tell these a-holes that Fournette isn't interested in either sitting out or leaving before his 3 years is up.

I hadn't read that second link before. That is a nice comeback story for Clarett. If you are really bored and want to understand more about his suit against the NFL, here is a summary.

Why is advice from this man a bad thing in your opinion?? This guy(Clarett) was given bad advice from idiots when he is was in the same situation. People that didn't give a damn about him. Just wanted him to get that money. His advice about stuff like that would be invaluable. You just talkin shite about this man because you don't like him for whatever reason.

The only advice Maurice Clarett should be giving anyone is how to protect your butt hole in prison.

There are thousands of CFB players and only a handful of them will ever play pro and be compensated for playing football outside of receiving a scholarship. It will be really hard to convince a bunch of kids that are just happy to be playing and getting a free ride that they should "strike" to support the rights of the few that do make it to the NFL.

It's why I posted both of these links, so everyone could be informed of Clarett's story and fewer fans would be posting something stupid. His story needs to be heard, note the number of successful coaches who allowed him to speak, these coaches love and want to protect their players.

I thought the same thing i.e. that he was a typical thug. Then I watched him in a lengthy interview - he's a very smart, articulate guy. Sad that when he had the chance, he was immature and made bad decisions.

Actually, MC has turned his life around and knows the consequences. I do believe LF is a special person on and off the field but MC has really found his way and I cant knock that. Advice from him is warranted.

Typical thug?? because he's a black guy! Man, y'all need to cut out that stupid shite. This is why folks today get mad because of this way of thinking. I used to think like that. Not anymore.
