This is typical in the Heisman race. If LF7 bounces back, and he will because we are not playing Bama every week, he will win the Heisman.

is this surprising? you can't have a game where you only get 31 yards. If he had got something like 80 or so yards then he is still leading it.

The pressure is off of him.

So what would it have taken? Would 75 yrds be ok? 100 even? Just enough to hold his spot at 1? Either way the score doesn't change, so it's pretty much a moot point. I think LSU losing the way they did hurt him regardless of the stats.

When Herschel Walker won the Heisman I think his low game was 30-40 yards, so shite happens to the best. Someone just needs to point that out.

And the fact that our OL did nothing to help him, NOTHING!!!

If LF ran for 70 more yards the score does change.

Good, now just focus on winning out.

He's not going to win the Heisman. When's the last time you saw a Heisman winner lay an egg late in the season in a game that knocked his team out of the Conference and National Title game (playoffs anyway)? There has never been one and there won't be won this year.

Meh, dropping him to 4th is laughable.

He will get back to his dominating performances in the upcoming games.

People rave about Bama's defensive front 7 and rush defense as the best ever, but drop Fournette 3 spots when he doesn't go for 200 yards and 4 TD's.

If he has good games the rest of the season, he will win it.

This wasn't just some "bad game". This was THE game that would have cemented his Heisman. And it was the worst game of his career by far.

This is exactly right. Anyone who doesn't get this is being delusional. As far as the Heisman goes, Fournette is an afterthought. He can have 200 yard games the rest of the way and it won't matter.

Still favored according to Vegas. But unfortunately the media has a platform to spout their garbage 24/7.

Or maybe we just aren't overreacting?

Fournette was hit before he could take 2 steps in that back field on nearly every play. People know this.

Other heisman candidates have had bad games and won. It's not some out of this world possibility that he can still win it.

Certainly if he gets 200 yards per game the rest of the way he'll win it.

he still leads in rushing yards and is 2nd in TDs with one less game

calm down

he's comfortably ahead in every stat. his OL couldn't handle a DL.. that's more of a testament to his ability in other games than anything else.

I haven't read anything here but the last page, so I assume it's been pointed out that Mark Ingram ran for 30-something yards in the Iron Bowl the year he won the Heisman. That's the last week of the regular season.

Only if Clemson loses. Watson ranges from pedestrian to spectacular but his team won the games where he was merely average (Louisville, ND). Add to the fact that the voters love QB's and the Bama game becomes a true eyesore on LF's resume.

It's probably Watson's trophy to lose, now. It's def a long shot for Fournette.

What you do in big games matters a hell of alot more than what you do vs. the creme puffs.

Running for say 125 yards and 2 TD's in a top 5 match up is far more important to your Heisman campaign than running for 250 and 4 TD's against Western Directional U.
