The score of Wisconsin's spring game was 6-0. Keep in mind the Badgers are replacing their entire front seven on defense this year. And yet the offense was easily held in check by the defense.

The strength of a Badger team is usually the OL. This year's Badger OL is very thin. They had two of their best OL held out of the spring game with significant injuries, and the remainder were pushed around by the new defensive replacements with ease.

Wisconsin is counting on the arrival of several freshman recruits to step up at WR and OL, none of whom is more than a three star recruit.

While LSU might be counting on freshman to contribute as well, the recruits the Tigers are looking to are some of the nation's most highly recruited players...Leonard Fournette, Malachi Dupre, Trey Quinn, Clifton Garrett, and Brandon Harris.

i coulda swore the OP was talkin about Wisconsin running the ball on our defense...funny how this has been swapped to us running the ball on them...i have no reason to believe that we will have no problem with this...if there is a problem it will be our DL not clogging the middle...if they have to run outside they are screwed with the athletes we have...(kind of thought this is where the OP was going)

If we can run the ball which of course as a Tiger I am sure we will. Like Iowa they will pound our middle and have no luck forcing it outside !

Gotta think that if things go to plan both teams run a combined 60+ times, right?

I believe the game will come down to which team can best stop the run (like most games) and turnovers. Wisconsin has similar issues as LSU: young, unproven and inexperienced at DL, QB and WR corps. Strengths should be RB and OL. Wisconsin lost its best player on both offense and defense. It will be an interesting test for LSU because I expect Wisconsin, on offense, to run the ball all day unless forced into obvious passing situations, and, on defense, to load the box and try to force LSU's QB to pass, early and often. I anticipate LSU will have the same basic gameplan. Gordon will be one of the best RBs in college football this year, but LSU obviously is good there too and has more depth at the position. If LSU is able to run and control the ball, it could get ugly for Wisconson. I think one of the keys to victory for LSU is to get an early lead which will give us flexibility to pound the ball and call some play action. I think Wisconsin's DBs are vulnerable to our speed on the outside. On the other hand, if LSU screws around like we have done on occasion in the past, and lets Wisconsin hang around until the 4th quarter, then anything can happen. Wisconsin will play hard. This will be one of their only opportunities to impress and get some cred with the playoff committee. After LSU, they have a cupcake schedule and could easily go unbeaten or with one or two loss into their conference championship game.

Edit: I believe this is the kind of game that can be a coming out party for our TEs. There should be many opportunities for Dickson, Desean, Gordon and Stokes to be open. I expect to see some two TE sets but that could open up the middle nicely if we can establish the run.

I think we play man to man lock down and cheat heavy on stopping the run trying to force Wisconsin into a passing game.
everybody wants to do that. Not all teams are equipped to. LSU has the ability no doubt in my mind with two exceptional and now experienced corners and Mills at full time safety.

I guess you can say that's one of the "keys to the game".

The good thing about wisky is they will be a tough test but also will prob struggle on offense while they look for a qb like us. So whats going to happen? we have better athletes on d and special teams. that will prevail.

LSU wins and it won't be close.

I don't understand how people can say this after 9 years of watching a LSU football under Miles. How many times have we actually blown out a team? Everyone was on here last year saying how bad we would crush TCU and that game was well in doubt midway through the 4th qtr. And that was with an experienced QB and 2 NFL receivers. I just don't think we have the kinda team to blowout an FBS team.

FWIW, I think this game goes down much like the TCU game.

I think Wisconsin is thinking the same thing.Young or not the biggest difference in this game for LSU is overall team speed.

Uh... Quite a few times actually. Plenty of them were very good teams too.

And those people were idiots.

Against a very good secondary. And Mett had a really good game.

ULL, APP St., Miss St., North Texas????

Are you really counting these teams?

Oregon was the only opener of reference where we took control of the game from the start and crushed them. And we can all agree that team was quite special.

We beat the ever loving shite out of a team that played in the BCSNCG game last season. The final score isn't always indicative of how close a game really was.

First off, I don't think a lot of people said this. Second off, if they did they were idiots.

Third off, in that game we allowed a 100 yard kick return and fumbled inside of our own 5 yard line. How often does LSU do either one of those things? Point is if you take those off the board, the game isn't even close.

LSU will need to play fundamentally sound football in order to put Wisconsin away. If we come out and have a couple of turnovers that give Wisconsin good field position or our special teams struggle it could be a close game in the fourth. If we play fundamentally sound football it could look a lot like LSU vs Oregon in 2011.

Wisconsin has a lot to replace on their defense and having a rookie defense go against LSU's Oline and RBs is never favorable for the defense.

For the sake of this argument, Yes.
