I see what you're saying, but it's not really true. First off, coaching in the SEC pays a lot. Also, it's been by far the best conference. Most good coaches have the ego to believe they can beat anyone and they love the challenge of playing against the best.
Chip Kelly remarked in a book, and I'm paraphrasing, that it would be foolish to leave somewhere like the Pac-12 to go to a pressure cooker like the SEC. I think a lot of established coaches share that sentiment.
The thing about people with big egos (and Chip Kelly has that) is that they want to protect their egos.
LSU would be going with an unproven commodity if Les is replaced. People are kidding themselves if they think some established top tier coach would leave what they have, to get beat up in the SEC just for the heck of it.

In hindsight LSU might have missed big when they didnt offer Jimbo Fisher the job in 2004.

Most of the time when a new head coach is hired they like to build their own staff or the coordinators might leave for other opportunities. So if we got a new head coach would y'all be okay with losing Chavis and Cameron?

I think that's true in some cases, but not all. Nobody ever thought Bama was realistically going to get Saban. He had his pro job and years left on his nice contract, but he came back to the SEC when UF had just won the national championship and LSU, Auburn and Arkansas were putting up double digit wins in the West. I'm not saying we're going after Saban, I'm just using him as an example. He took on a nice challenge. Spurrier too... He took about a four million dollar per year pay cut leaving Washington with three years and 15 million left on his contract. SCAR was not a powerhouse and he knew he had to compete against UF (recruiting powerhouse and the place where he became a legend), UGA and Tennessee (who at the time was still doing well). And that was just in the East. There is a lure about the SEC.

That's probably true, although you never know what's possible (and LSU is easily one of the most attractive jobs even having to deal with Saban). Miles was not really much of a proven commodity when he came here. He did prove that he could win at a losing program and that was definitely an accomplishment. But I think his only bowl win was in the now defunct Houston Bowl. He had also just been blown out by a four loss Ohio State team in a bowl when we hired him. People forget those things when they're looking at one particular game a prospective coach lost. Hell, Saban was obliterated in his bowls at Michigan State. But that was a different time in our program and we just needed someone that could win and he did that at Michigan St.
It's not easy at all hiring a new coach. I just wish Miles would quit making the same mistakes with game management.

The only two on that list who would possibly accept the LSU job are Franklin and Strong, and I'm not sold on either one for LSU.

Les is really a poor coach. His genius is in relationships with coaches (but this is balanced out with irrational loyalty to poor coaches) and in recruiting.
