Belt high fastballs are usually the best pitch to hit. A hitters dream pitch. Couple of the only hits we got were up in the zone. This team didnt not show up. Pressure for some reason got to them. I just don't understand why this team was not fired up.

They were a tad higher than belt high. Letter high is more like it. Players were reacting and swinging instead of being patient. They got away with it all year long, just couldn't get away with it when facing good pitchers who didn't make a lot of mistakes.

Some good points have been made, but we also had to many players trying to do to much. Instead of going with a pitch, they were trying to pull it for a HR. line drives in this park would result in many base hits.

Notice, the high heat is the number one strike out pitch in amateur baseball. It's not in the pros because you don't last in the pros if you can't lay off the high heat. Pro pitchers will eat you alive.

it isn't in the pros b/c anyone who throws consistently high is out of the league in a year

They also are clearly not teaching bunting, another fundamental skill. So, you end up with very talented athletes who are still playing like amateurs. They are skilled enough to hit well against college pitchers who will never see the pros, but when they face a good pitcher, their fundamental deficiencies are exposed. That happened when they faced Stanek, Gray and both pitchers in the CWS.

holy shite

“We set pitching machines, throwing fastballs chest high, trying to lay off of it, get on top of it.

You've miss-quoted Mainieri.

I never understood this line of questioning. It's always the head coach's responsibility to have his team ready to play. That could be physically or mentally. If some players can't handle the big stage then it's the coach's job to deal with this. How he deals with it is up to him.

So it's CPM's fault that Bregman and Rhymes had a case of the tight-arse?

Just because a pitch is pulled in the air does NOT mean the hitter is trying to hit a homerun. Where do people even get this crap from?

Lsu just could not lay off the high inside pitch the entire game. Never adjusted & lost. Poor plate discipline!

Manieri's statement, to anyone who knows anything about baseball, is an admission that his hitters have not been properly trained. This, from a basic hitting instruction manual:
Then go out and hire a hitting version of Alan Dunn. If you're attached at the hip and just can't bare to completely part ways with your current hitting coach, re-assign him to be the full time Recruiting Coordinator. Then bring in a professional hitting coach than has the knowledge and experience to really make a difference like Dunn did with the pitchers.
