Just out of curiousity. How come LSU has to play Florida every year when they aren't in the same division? Shouldn't you have to play them for 2 years and then not for 2 years? Kind of not fair you have to play them every year. Just how does scheduling in the SEC work? For us in the Big 12, we play every team in the North every year and then alternate 3 teams in the South. So we would play 3 teams from the south for 2 years and then play the other 3 teams from the south the next 2 years. Hope that makes sense.

And hated to see that loss on Saturday night. Wouldn't worry though. You guys will bounce back and hopefully get to play them again in the SEC championship game and beat them.

every west team has a constent out of the east. ours, unfortunately, is florida. the other two eastern opponents that we play rotate every two years.

I'm glad LSU plays Florida every year. At least on the odds years, you'll know we'll have at the very minimum 2 good home games per year.

Ah, okay. Was just wondering about that. Kind of unfair if you ask me.

Hopefully you guys put a beat down on Auburn in a few weeks. Woot woot.

Who would you find it more "fortunate" to see LSU play every year?

bc when the SEC was split I believe in 1992, A SEC West team played a permanent SEC east opponent every year. The SEC fricked lsu and gave us Florida b/c hell would of froze over if the bama/tenn game would of been broken apart. I think we should lose the permanent opponents have two rotating teams every two years. frick these permanent opponents. if the okla/nebraska game can be broken apart so can the gumps/tenn game.

I hate it, very unfair, and I think even Meyer hinted at it before the game last week

Eh, but it also makes our SOS look that much better.

The only reason the SEC does that is to appease the Bama/UT match up.

SEC arbitrarily picks a "rival" from the other division to be your permament opponent. They tried to pair up programs according to their relative size. Tradition dictated that Tenneesse pair up with Bama.

That basically left UF to pair with LSU. And yes, there has been a fair amount of bitching from both sides about how unfair it is.

And it is made even worse by the SEC rules. In 2006 LSU had the best record against SEC West teams or had the tiebreaker with teams that tied with LSU...but LSU didn't represent the West because LSU had to go to UF and Arkie had to go to South Carolina or some shite.

We also play 2 east teams on rotation every year.

I agree. I still consider OU to be our rival but we don't get to play them every year. If that match up can be broken up then Bama/Tenn can definitely be broken up.

correct me if I am wrong, but up until recently there were two permanent opponents......I know Auburn played both UGA and UF annually....didn't LSU play Florida and UK every year?
