NO Saban did not completely build the program we have in place today at LSU. The foundation of the program was laid out by Dinardo when he convience Kevin Faulk to sign with LSU. That season Dinardo brought back the magic to LSU and erased the stinch of the HAllman regiem.

Had Cecil Collins stayed clean and played at least three years at LSU Saban may very well never gotten a chance to become the head coach at LSU.

Saban used the foundation, players and in roads into the high schools in Louisiana that was left for him by Dinardo to build his reputaion at LSU.

Then logically, Mike Shula built the program Bama has today.

that is preposterous. this dickhead must have stayed up all night looking for something to piss lsu fans off. if anyone, no matter what school they pull for, believes this they have to be about the stupidest person in the world. i just can't believe the people in alabama are that stupid.

THIS.

LSU is as much of a reason for Nick's success as Nick is to LSU's success. Or something like that.

are you high?

He won with guys like Spears, Clayton, Hill, Whitworth, McClure, Henderson, ans scores of others playing in the League. He gets credit for the ones's he recruited and coached. He did a great job here and took the program to he next level, but he gets no credit for whats going on now, when left, this years team was in Jr High.

nd pull major strings to get facilities built for LSU athletics

he gets credit for somethings like the academic center, but other improvements were underway. He was as much a part of that process as he was responsible for it.

Mark Emmert had even more to do with building LSU's program than anybody. Finally, the good old boy network was cast aside. Emmert was a visionary with a know how to get her done.

no, its not just a follows b. Shula didn't win anything, Saban won the first NC for LSU since 1958 He deserves high praise and admiration for that, but not credit for whats going on now.

Saban left Les with very little to build on. Saban oversigned and Les had only 11 schollys to give his first year. Also Saban had one 1 loss season(NC) and averaged 3 or four losses the other years including his last when the 4th loss was Iowa in the bowl game. Not to mention his awful coaching against UAB.

what? is being a couple seasons removed from winning an NC, and a few SEC titles not something to build on? not to mention the recruits.

this is just as crazy as the earlier remark about Saban winning with inferior talent. Dinardo left Saban a lot of talent, just as Saban did with Les.

we've had a good succession of coaches since Curley (yes, including Gerry D) who have contributed to this thing being what it is - a premier football program.

This finally answers one of the two most perplexing questions the human race has ever faced.

1. Can God create a rock so heavy that even He can not lift it?
2. Can Saban build a program so strong that even he can not beat it?

this is factually incorrect

The last time LSU had bad kickers or a bad kicking game was when Lord Saban was Master.

He said this on the Tim Brando show today. Sorry I don't buy this

Sorry but he is RIGHT. Miles has just used what Saban built and took it to another level. FACT.

Here's a little truth for all the people who spout crap like what Finebaum said: Les Miles did a better job with $$$$$'s players than $$$$$ did.

2005 - 11-2
2006 - 11-2
2007 - 12-2

$$$$$ NEVER did anything close to that while at LSU.

Now he's on the verge of following up an 11-2 season with an underwhelming offensive team with what may end up being an undefeated team, and there's a great chance LSU could be even better NEXT year.

Bama can have $$$$$. Les has proven himself, and I'm glad Joe Alleva didn't listen to the idiots like me who wanted Les fired after last year's Tennessee debacle.

It's rather interesting that LSU is ranked #1 and the previous place Miles coached, Oklahoma State, is #2. Of course, Finescum doesn't notice that.

So you're saying Cecil and Tepper should be getting a portion of Saban's ego money.
