I think that Saban served a purpose in getting discipline in the LSU program-----but GD did not leave the program in total shambles.

LSU did as much to make Saban as Saban did to make LSU. Both mutually prospered from the arrangement.

However, when Saban left for Miami after leading the fan base to believe he would stay at LSU stuck a dagger in our hearts------on Christmas Eve none-the-less.

All I see when I look at Saban is a very short man who manipulated the contract negotiations at the fan base's emotional expense.

His inflated ego did not allow him to accept any blame for the LSU loss---it was his players' fault (Field goal kicker and punt returner).

Saban absolutely built LSU's program to what it is today. Conversely, Miles built Oklahoma State to what it is today. Either way, Miles is pretty damn good.

I have thought about this but i didn't get it right. When miles got ther okie state was 4-7 and turned it into a winning program. The difference is miles didn't have mark emmerett. After miles left okie state (winning i might add), they finally got serious when t-boone pickens donated 300 million.

Who is responsible for okie state? les miles.

Gundy was the guest commentator on ESPN on their off week. When someone brought up that Les Miles had a lot to do with the resurgence of their football program, Gundy rolled his eyes.

if saban is so great, why does his whole coaching tree look like complete dogshit right now?

Matter of fact, if he was the best coach "hands down" like everyone proclaims, why is he so average with average players? or equal talent in the NFL?

nobody likes living in shadows. Gundy can get away with rolling his eyes at miles.

For now.

Saban laid the foundation, but after all of his players were gone and Miles had his worst season as HC (Dual D-Coordinators) Miles could have lost the program. He hired well, recruited well, and the players bought into his system.

Well he brought in some good recruits and won a a good bit of games plus a championship, but I'm sure Les would have done the same if he came when Saban did.

saban only brought back waut hallman and dinardo broke down.....

i see a much smoother program with miles than saban.......by far.....

saban lost to mid tenn st was it when he was here?

saban lost to ulm at bama?.......come on man!!

he lost to an underdog iowa team at lsu in a bowl and lost to utah at bama...........come on man......!!! saban got a rep for recruiting but his teams brain fart alot.......i suspect many of sabans players hate him alot like players at lsu did......

he screwed bama out of victory on sat cause miles out coached him which wasnt really all that hard to do.......

Saban is alot like the character Richard Widmark played in the movie "THE BEDFORD INCIDENT". If you haven't seen that movie you should check it out. A good movie by the way.

From what I understand Skip Bergman hired Saban. Bergman built the program. I could be wrong.

"Bergman"?????

Skip Bertman was the baseball coach when Saban was hired.

How old are you?

Actually, he had lots of great ideas for LSU... but TAF donation money actually paid for it and an engineering firm built it.

One of Saban's finest losses here was UAB.

It's crazy how much we hated Miles after the Ole Mrs. game and the Tenn shannanagans.

I love him again. Amazing how W's can do that to the coach fan relationship.

It's all about expectations and wins. Miles always had the room to win back the fanbase, though expectations are extremely high here and it was difficult. He pretty much has done it in one year
