I don't understand what could have been expected of him then, in the most extraordinary of circumstances. Let alone the fact that we steam rolled to the SEC championship game that year. C'mon bro.

I think whoever said reality lies somewhere in the middle is correct. The nega's never wanted to give the man credit for anything (ie "stumbling" into the talent on the roster in 2011), but the posi's never wanted to give him all the blame (myself included). I think everyone pretty much agrees now that it was time. It's done. I will not blame the administration if we suffer a bit before we come back.

I stand by this statement however. LSU does NOT recruit itself. Getting athletes to come play here was probably what les and his collection of assistants did best. Best gameday coach he was not, stubborn he was, but kids wanted to play for him. I hope our next coach is up to the challenge of keeping walls around the state and hopefully either recruiting a qb to fit his system, or changing the system to fit the tools of the qb (which was the only area Les never seemed to grasp).

Please go on about how our lines werent talented in 2001

I wont even get into how our lb corp had the most collective talent of any lb corp ever. Trev faulk, bradie james, &lionel turner on the same fricking team.

In general the positive folks had their heads in the ground and the negative folks often went out of their way to criticise the most successful stretch in LSU history.

I look forward to another 10 years of the same regardless of who is hired.

I always thought that after 2009 was when you finally knew what you had with Less Miles. 2010 pretty much cemented it. In 2011 I got to enjoy an all time great defense and was not upset when I saw what Leslie ultimately did to the offense. Still, the championship loss to Alabama was just the most unentertaining game to watch.

That is what ultimately cost Miles. The product on the field was at times unwatchable for LSU fans. I am sure that casual TV watchers changed the channel even on the marquee match ups. The SEC network probably factored in.

Why even start this thread?

I never wanted to be right. I wanted LSU football to be better.

Miles is gone. Continuing this argument now just makes it look like you were more anti Miles than pro LSU which is exactly wear many of us have said about the pumpers.

IDGAF about yesterday. I'm hoping the players get pumped to perform for O and I hope we get the hire right.

F history. It's done

He was. He turned OSU into a respectable program. Before he got there they had 1 winning season from 1987-2002.

Yeah. I don't even know how a non LSU fan could watch an LSU. I wouldn't have watched three minutes of that shite if I wasn't a lifelong LSU guy

Saban spoiled some fans. His attention to detail was well respected across the country meanwhile miles was the loveable dope that talked funny.

You're wrong. An AP writer in New Mexico (no dog in the fight) declared LSU the national champions before the natty was played. He voted that way after the game, also. HE WAS RIGHT!!

I said nothing of the sort. I make no secret of what I think if Miles. But. That's yesterday's news.

I said it's done. Miles isn't LSUs coach and I'm an LSU fan.

He was not known to be a great recruiter until he came here...which proves LSU does recruit itself. Not saying we don't need a guy who can recruit but it's much easier to get top recruits here than most schools

His attention to detail had a talented lsu roster losing to ulm. It's like all you have forgotten that people bitched about him while he was here too. We lost to inferior teams every year he was here too. Its like some of you think his time at lsu is anything like his time at bama.

This is about as stupid as it gets as far as an arguing point can go. Of course an SEC program is going to recruit better than a nobody in the big 12. Just fyi since I know you just said this as bullshite and didn't do any thing to research before making this claim...Les Miles recruiting class rankings at ok state

2001 51
2002 31
2003 22
2004 22

Hello, leg factory...my friend Topwater Trout needs something to stand on......nothing? nothing for him to stand on? OK THANKS!

Do you know how i know you weren't a lsu fan in the 90's?

Please explain why usc, texas, and other more prestigious programs didnt recruit better than lsu while Miles was here.

Negatigers was such a dumb fricking name. NegaMiles maybe. If they were like me, they were in the stadium start to finish cheering on our players. Miles was divisive as a HBC. He was very successful yet frustratingly awful in clutch moments. I thought Les Miles put us in place to compete for championships. I also thought that he dicked up numerous opportunities for us to be in those championships. His 2005 run ending with a loss to UGA was a thing of beauty. The man seemed to manage (or be oblivious to) chaos. 2011 was special teams, and one of the best defenses in history led by Chavis. 2013 was about world class offensive talent and a transfer QB. The reality is that we did well but still underachieved in the minds of many. Les was the cow that gave the best milk in town and then kicked the bucket over. It is what is is. We were in the mix for awhile, but it was beyond time for Les to go. Good luck to Les the man. He is a quality human being and the most successful coach in our programs history. Geaux Tigers.

The negatigers always grasp onto the one fact that helps them - number of NFL players from LSU. But, that is only one facet of how much "talent" you have on a team. "There will be ten players from this team in the NFL." So what? Ten players represent less than 1/2 the players on the field and a much smaller percentage of the team itself.
