I got every single game as a freshman 3 years ago

It comes down to effort; you can get tickets to any game you want to go to. Why doesn't he change the wording so the law doesn't discriminate against upperclassmen?

"Rep. Brown,
I am humbled to know that they state is doing so well that our leaders are worrying about tickets for football games. That is just wonderful.
As a senior at LSU, I must say I am very displeased with this bill. When I was a freshman, I was able to obtain a full set of season tickets. I have not missed a single game my entire career as a student.
Assuming every freshman buys a ticket, where would this surplus come from? This would mean students who have been faithful to their tigers would have less tickets, as they are going to freshman. I have never met a student who wanted to go to a game, that wasn't able to go. Some students don't buy season tickets, and still have the ability to gain tickets through other students.
Even with that, do you believe it is fair for an incoming student to be guaranteed a set of season tickets, when a sophomore, junior, or senior has went to games, and have proven themselves as students? This will punish true fans to let others go. I loved attending games as a freshman, but I fairly participated in the lottery, just as others before me.
This is a terrible bill, and as a student and soon to be Alumni, I ask that you withdraw it.

perhaps you should let Rep. Terry Brown know what you think about his drafted proposed legislation.
The state is monumentally fricked up.
Corruption is rampant, poverty and illiteracy is high, our flagship university is falling apart due to lack of funding, and this idiot introduces legislation about LSU football season tickets.
Good to know he's got his priorities in order!

How about the representatives address this right after they relinquish their priority rights to bowl games and Saints playoff games etc. Once we've made sure the taxpayers have he same priority, then HB-BS 144 can be discussed and suitably dismissed seeing as it is not needed.

I'm sure Mr. Browns kid who got left out in the cold last fall stands to gain from Greek reserved this year.
He announced this right after being elected

Brown is married to the former Lou Altanzen of West Baton Rouge Parish. They have one daughter, Ann-Elizabeth, a Speech Pathologist student at LSU.
"Another thing that is small, but that I want to look into is the procedure freshman students at LSU have to go through to buy tickets to the home football games,'' Brown explained. "It is my understanding that only a third of the freshman students are able to buy tickets to the LSU home football games, and those are chosen by a lottery system."

How many freshman does he think should get tix out of an allotment of 14k?
Posted on 3/20/13 at 7:56 pm to LSUMJ
Well he states that it is his understanding that freshmen "only" get 33% of the tickets, which means sophomores, juniors, and Seniors are splitting the other 66%
So in his mind, freshmen getting 33% and sophomores, juniors, and senior getting 22% is unfair to freshmen.

No, he said only a third of freshman get tickets. Not that they get a third of the total tickets. Not agreeing with this, just pointing that out.

Anyone have a breakdown of enrollment by class?

As a new student (grad student) a few years back I was thrown in with the freshman and all other new students for student ticket requests. I requested a package (half the games with 2 SEC games and 2 OOC games) but was awarded the entire home season ticket package. I'm not aware that Freshman/new students have been turned away in recent years? If there enough season tickets for 2012 after an undefeated NCG run this will likely never be an issue in my opinion.

with the current system, the student allotment is based on seniority and they are usually sold out before it gets to freshman. This laws would require a specific allotment for freshmen. It's stupid.
so the filthy language and lewd behavior is coming from upper classmen who should know better and not immature freshmen nubes???.....that's stupid

This whole thing is stupid on multiple levels. On the one hand it doesn't need to be addressed by our legislature anyway, and is a huge waste of time, and on top of that freshmen football tickets aren't even a problem. They already all get at least some tickets every year.
Posted on 3/21/13 at 10:40 am to CrippleCreek
Maybe he plans on enrolling to get tickets for this year's games?

This.
My daughter's freshman year (2010) she got all but 2 games. She was easily able to purchase the missing 2 from other students.
My freshman year (1986) I got all but 2 games...and was able to easily purchase the missing 2 from other students.
I'm really confused as to why this required legislative intervention. Seems like things are like they've always been...which is to say 'acceptable and equitable'.

life was better during hallman years, when they practically gave tickets away
I remember going to the girl at the table outside the union and buying tickets. and her asking how many do you want. think they were either $3 each or $6 each.....
but, other then that, i do not want the Hallman days back, and never again should you speak that name.....
